Traveling with Propane Bottle on
2021 Jayco Eagle 317RLOK;
- Does anyone travel with Propane bottle(s) on?
- If you turn your bottles off each trip do you relight the Oven Pilot each time you turn the bottle back on ?
Furrion Stove top and oven ?

I know there are some that do, mostly for the fridge I think...We don't since we have a Residential Fridge, so just to be safe, I turn the gas off and purge the lines before travel. That's just me though.

Always since 1996, for the refrigerator. Never light the oven pilot light unless we are going to use the oven. Water heater is left off as well.
If you do a search on this topic you will discover enough reading and opinions to keep you busy for a week. Some think it's a cardinal sin and we're all going to die...but like I said before, I like my beer cold and ice cream hard when we get to the camp site...

In our previous 5vrs/TT, we always traveled with the propane tanks on - except when fueling up (smart to turn off the tanks). Now we have a residential fridge so we leave the tanks off until we get to the campground.

We keep them off when parked at the house, And only one on at a time, when using gas for Fridge (travel or camping), & when camping for heater / stove. We only light the oven pilot when needed the few times we use the oven. No pilot for the stove burners, just the "clicker".

We keep them off, but only because of how we cool the fridge the day before, put already frozen and cold food in it, and how far we travel before stopping.
We plug the TT in the day before to get the fridge cold, and the longest we drive is maybe 4 to 6 hours before we stop for the night, or are already at our destination, so it gets plugged in again. We don't boondock like many do, so the fridge doesn't run on gas unless we lose power at the campsite.
We turn the tanks on when we arrive and close them when we leave. It's just timing on our part, and the shorter distances we travel compared to some others.

We travel with propane on for refer usage. As others have stated, we also close propane off when refueling.
For our Furion stovetop and oven, we light the pilot when we are going to use the oven, do not leave it lit. We dont use the oven everyday.
Of course we turn off the propane when rv not in use.

Travel with the propane on at all times. Only light the oven pilot light as needed. We don't travel with the oven pilot on. The only time the propane is off is during winter storage.

I turn it on and leave it on until it's empty. Refill and keep going. I also have a 36 gallon gas tank that is always on.

Welcome aboard!
This is a popular topic. Some do and some do not. I turn my tank on in the spring and turn it off in the fall.
There're places where the tank needs to be turned off, like gas stations in some states, some tunnels.

We travel with the propane bottles on so the fridge runs. Haven't used the oven in the 5 years we've had it so can't help you there.

I don't believe that I have ever traveled with the Gas off.
It is always on and Fridge is lit. Been that way since first trailer back in the late 80's.

The only time our propane tank valve has been shut off - is way back around 1979.
Well let me correct myself... we do shut it off when the tank is being filled.

Some tunnels require the tank to be off and inspected prior to entering the tunnel.
Out tank is always off while traveling. We have a residential fridge.

+1
Oven only lit when using. We use ours as a " farm house " when not traveling so fridge never is off except to defrost . I keep the propane on when at the farm just in case the electricity should go out.
Giving a lot of thought to getting a smaller Inverter generater and powering the rv going down the road. Mainly to keep AC on

Turn mine (Propane) on and leave it on. It runs the refrigerator when traveling.
Turn on oven pilot light ONLY when intending to use the oven. If Stopping in a Wally Mart for the night, then I will also turn on the Propane side of the Hot Water Heater.
