Tri pod or Braces

Good morning all. Sorry if this topic has been previously covered but I am wondering whether a tri pod or the arm braces are best for supporting and stabilizing my new fifth wheel. I welcome all opinions and suggestions. Thanks!

I did the braces on the landing gear on my first and my new set are arriving today for the new one. IMHO the braces are much more effective on the shake. Had JT's on the first and went with plug it right's this time around as all my T-handle bolts broke on the first set.

A friend had the tri pod and eventually went with the arms.

I use a tripod and X-Chocks. They take almost all of the movement out except a bounce in the middle of the 5er. I would have to add additional supports under the frame in front of the wheels for that.

Used a TriPod with our last 5th Wheel, use the leg brace stabilizers from Plug it Right on current 5th Wheel, like the stabilizer braces much better, easier, work better, nothing to store when we move.

Having used the tripod, am now using JT Strongarms, fantastic, no complaints. Easy to use, very effective.

My BAL X chocks between the wheels take out about 75% of the shakes, and putting simple screw jacks under the frame just in front of and behind each wheel takes out another 20% or so. Taking out that last 5% is not worth the $$ to buy either the arms or a tripod, IMHO.

I have used the tripod in the past, and found some times that it is not tall enough to reach the pin. Had to put blocks underneath the legs to make it tall enough. Installed JT Armstrong braces on my camper and like it a lot better now. No movement what ever. I do have scissors jacks mounted on the frame in front of the wheels that I crank down and that stops all the bounce in my fiver.

I use the tripod and X-chocks between the tires. I still get movement so I also use C-clamps and clamp a 2x4 at a diagnal between the ft landing gears. That take most of the movement out.

We went with the bal lock arm stabilizers on all four corners and are really happy with them. Have stayed at several campgrounds that the tri pod would of not worked with needing to back the truck back under to fit at the site. I installed them myself in a hour and used the factory cargo tray bracket on the rear arms with not problems.

I must say, it is just the wife and I and we do not get a lot of bounce or sway in our unit. It is a large 5th wheel, but we just use the provided leveling jacks and the wheel x-chocks. These seem to take most all of the bounce and sway out of the unit. Have not really had any problems but then we don't have kids running all through the unit.

After 4 years of full time I haven't found the need for any stabilizers. I am alone most of the time so any movement is caused by me which I don't feel anyway. I have gotten used to the movement caused the Splendide washer/dryer combo and can even sleep while it is running in the same room. Now when I do have company they don't seem to mind the movement either or they are just too polite to mention it. Either way, I'm happy as is.

I use the TRI-POD on my FLAGSTAFF 5TH Wheel but it sure is ugly and takes up room... When this get stolen or broke I will get braces next...

It does however keep me from bumping my head on the pin I guess when setup...
