Update! slide mount " L " brackets

Hay Gang, Jayco factory rep informed me concerning the Schwintek slide inside L brackets. They were installed as a fix to slide room binding. FYI, make sure we inspect those plates and screws periodically.

When did they start installing them?

Could you post a picture of the brackets so that I'm sure of what to check?

Thanks,

with slide closed you can see 4 brackets top and bottom inside of coach, each side, Two screws in each plate. As far as I know they only installed the on the schwintek slides

U sure about that. I have one on the right side with one screw that missed the wall. Jayco looked at the pic and said those brackets do nothing. They use em to hold the assy in place while it is bolted to the walls. The floor sag fix was done in 2017. It is just a little beefier outrigger installed on frame under the floor area that overhangs the frame.

If those brackets were suppose to be anything then mine are installed like crap the first time, and when they replaced my Schwintek last year they installed the brackets even worse.

I can hear it struggling..but maybe that’s the way it is.
When I got it back, the front motor popped out of the coupler because the tech missed with the retaining screw.
The motor spun and wrecked the wires. That was right before leaving for a trip. Trip canceled.
Then it all stopped again...they had to replace the controller.

Now the back motor is quitting and shutting the system off but a wire wiggle gets it working again.

After going thru 3 crappy shops I finally found a gold star RV repair shop, seems a tech was so fed up with the terrible work done by CW he started his own business.
You call and he comes out to you and does the paperwork and diagnoses the problem, goes back and orders the parts, when they are in he makes an appointment and only has you RV for 1 or 2 days, takes all warranty but prefers extended as they are easier to work with. I love these guys and won't take my coach anywhere else if I can avoid it. There are only 4 of them with his wife running the office, they are always booked up weeks out but will make time for emergencies.

Funny, I was going to post about this also. We were also told that those brackets did nothing by a tech at CW when we pointed out that the screws on the slide had come away from one of the brackets on the wall. WRONG! It took awhile but eventually the bottom of the slide on that side worked itself over until there was a gap of almost a half inch. The slide then bound up and would not fully retract at the top. You could hear the gear trying to connect to the track on the bottom but it was now to far away to do so properly leaving the other gears to do the work. CW had to pull the slide again, second time for us with Schwintek system. They realigned it, made heavier brackets (don’t have pictures of those sine rv in storage) which looks like from a heavier L bracket. The floor was also bowed now so they had to shim the floor. Luckily we have Good Sams extended warranty, since ours is a 2015, which paid for most of the repairs.

You are a braver man than I am, having work done at CW, they really messed up my RV, had to get it fixed right at another shop.

It was the bowed floor that sagged to move ur slide. Look at ur outriggers were they bent and replaced? If those brackets hold ur slide in place I will buy u a beer.
Jayco told me all they do is hold the bracket assy in place while they align it and bolt it to the wall. They either lied to me or that thin piece of metal with screws is a joke.

I'm curious about the statement that they hear the Schwintek slide
struggling" My kitchen slide on our 28.5RSTS always sounds like the motors are really straining.. ie varying slow down to a near growl. Everything is lubed, and on shore power. The motors just always seem under powered, yet all works every time.
It this "normal" for others as well?

They struggle and work there tail off. Jayco used an aluminum shaft and 300 to 1 gear ratio. If you notice a lot of class c’s and RV from other companies use two top tracks and one bottom track. Those use steel shafts with three gears and 500 to 1 gearing. And now most use nothing but the slim rack system on all heavy slides. But as we all know there was never a problem with the schwintec system.
Lol
