Upgrade shackles
I have the CRE3000 suspension from Mor Ryde and was looking to upgrade to the wet bolt heavy duty ststem....do I just need the shackle kit or should I replace the hangers too?

I have also been thinking about putting this upgrade on a new trailer I am getting.
How many install this upgrade?
Do you install immediately or run the factory supplied shackles for a year or 2?

After axle in 2007 Cameo was bent, found the shackles were broken. When we ordered Pinnacle, our dealer did the upgrade on the shackles. Highly recommend doing the upgrade. With regards to the hangers, if they are oblong, yes, replace.

I have just ordered the wet bolt kit. It certainly sounds easy enough if you have a selection of tools, Jacks and knowledge. I plan to use my ball joint press to do the job. Should only take a few hrs I am thinking. I think the biggest issue will be appropriately blocking the trailer so the axles are free of the ground. I will probably not even remove the tires if I can get away with it. Will update when job is done.

We had our 2016 29.5BHDS upgraded with heavy duty shackle & wet bolt kit by the same shop that added a sub-frame. The shop used the Dexter heavy duty axle kit, which included new (wet) bolts, copper bushings and hangers. They also added an extra brace to each of the axles, which made them extra beefy. We just came back from a 5,000-mile road trip and the trailer towed very well with no axle/tire issue.

I would not risk running with factory bushings for any longer than six months or 5,000 miles. Since, the factory bushings are plastic and not lubeable, the bolts will wear them down to nothing in no time.

A friend of mine put together a detailed Dexter EZ Flex 'how-to' back in '08', but it still gives you some insight on what's involved with the given components ......., here's his write-up:

I ordered the kit for my 5th with the CRE 3000 already installed from the factory. It was an easy swap out and took about 2.5 hrs with all the jacking and blocking required. Some of the bolts can give you a little trouble, but if the rig is fairly new and nothing is rusted it will go smoothly.
I think I paid about $90.00 from Tweety's at the time I did it 2 years ago.
Significant increase in quality over stock.
Be gentle on the brass if you need to tap it in. Use a rubber mallet or block of wood. Do not hit them with a hammer directly.

After reading this thread, I'm going to have to check my shackles. All the original parts have a lot of miles on them, so there must be some wear.

This is the kit I was going to order but after close inspection of the shackles they are showing no visible signs of wear. We probably don't have 2k miles on the trailer as we mostly camp locally. Mor Ryde UO12016 Heavy Duty Shackle Kit | eBay

I changed mine out to the Mor Ryde kit at 20,000 on our 2014 Octane. The shackles were just starting to show some wear, but all the bushings were is various states of advanced wear. About half were worn to metal to metal contact. I would definitely change them if you have higher mileage, but wouldn't be too concerned if the trailer is used for close by, low mileage trips.
