Upgrading to 17.5 tires/wheels

After doing extensive research on tires (after having 2 blowouts), I've decided to upgrade to 17.5" wheels and H rated tires. When I asked my dealer if the change would be OK to do, they directed me to Jayco warranty dept. I called them and explained why I was doing it (safest choice), they said they couldn't give me a recommendation because Jayco had not tested this size on my model. I told the person that the tire diameter is actually a tiny bit smaller than the current 16" tires but they still couldn't give a recommendation either way. My question is, should I be concerned in any way of upgrading to 17.5" wheels?

Why not just go to Goodyear G-614s. They are 14 ply G rated. Made in USA...

Those are actually a JAYCO option for some FWs.

The rep at trailer tires and wheels highly recommended the 17.5 H rated tires over the 16 G rates for safety and durability. I figured they are the experts, so I went with his advice. And, from what I seen on their website, the Goodyear G-614s are made in China. The larger 17.5 G114s are made in the USA. I went with the 17.5 Sailuns.

I stand corrected.....went back on their website and they do not state where the 16" tires are manufactured.

I have done the upgrade to the 17.5 wheels and tires. It's not cheap but gives me peace of mind. I wanted to upgrade to the G614 tires but my fiver wheels were only rated at 80 psi. The G614 tire is a higher pressure tire than my stock wheels would have allowed.

If my trailer had come with 110 psi wheels, I would have been happy to use the G614 tire. But that's not a cheap upgrade either. The nice thing with the 17.5 inch upgrade is you can get some real skookum custom wheels.

Also keep in mind that the G614 is rated at 3750 lbs, the G114 is 4850 lbs.
