I’ve had the filters inside blow out of the bottom of the microwave forgetting to close the vent, I assume from the 70mph hiway wind blowing in. Not a huge deal, but one got bent up.

LOL That will work until it doesn't.

I use the broom handle to flip open the vent latches and to close it ,use handle to snap shut vent latches. So far so good...

Leave ours open & so far (knocking on wood here) no issues with the vents. We have a cover over our outside vent too so not sure if that is helping out.

Since reading this thread a few days ago, I went and checked mine. Still closed up from factory. I "unlocked" the vent and honestly I don't think it seals tight enough to make a huge difference. I turned the fan on and checked the air flow with the vent closed and then opened, and it was about the same. Anyway, I left it unlocked and we will see how it goes. I do know that it has vented out with it closed up pretty well already. There is also a spring loaded metal flap behind the plastic one, so that may help keep some drafts out, especially while travelling down the road.

I’ve never closed mine. Never knew it was an issue.

Always “try” to remember to close ours to keep mud daubers or other pests out, especially when the TT sits for a while. Easy part is remembering to open it — as soon as you turn the range vent fan on, you can tell if it’s not open.
