Walking on slides floor while in

When sliides are in on my 2013 31.5RLTS, they are up a little (floor). If I need to access refer while traveling, will damage occur if I walk on slides floor while they are in? Do not always have space to slide out. thanks for input

We have exactly the same issue, as our dinette slide comes within 6 inches of the stationary kitchen counter when drawn in, and I sometimes need to use this 6 inch path to access the fridge when parked alongside the road. I walk on the edge of the slide routinely, and no damage has ever occurred. Would not jump and down on it, or use it unnecessarily, but when I need to walk on it, I just do it.

Our slide is the raised as well. We do not step on it. That was a big warning the dealer gave us when we bought. He do not step on it when it is in, you will break it and do damage. So we avoid it. If we need to do something, I will run the slide out real quick.

We can use our table/kitchen for lunch breaks when it is in and have never had a problem stepping on the stored slides.

Our dealer never mentioned not to walk on them.

on our 3rd rig and never heard about not walking on them.

I have seen a slide that was broken because someone walked on it while it was pulled in. The way those sliders work, they do cause the floor to raise up and it is not a good idea to ever walk on one. The weight and pressure can cause major damage.

We try to avoid stepping on the elevated edge. It's only unsupported ¾" plywood encased in plastic on top and bottom..

Our dealer warned us about stepping on the edge when the slide was not extended. He did say it was ok the use the dinette (it is on the slide) as long as we are careful about the edge.

I'm with norty1.

We sit at our dinette all the time when traveling. Also sit on the couch. It's been 5 years with the SENECA and 7 years with our DESIGNER MH an never and issue. We did the same thing when we had our FW wheels and that goes back at least 18 years.

I have never heard that comment before, nor have I ever seen it in any of the "owners manual". I would put that comment in the category of a " dealer who doesn't have a clue"..

I too have walked (carefully) across mine. Then again, I also leave my slides extended out for months at a time and many warn against doing this as well. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've owned campers with slides for close to 20 years and have yet to experience a problem with one.

Dealer warned me not to walk on the slides while in. Not only Jayco but the other brands did the same. Never have done it and won't. Not much supporting them will in. Just my .02cents. I have seen some slides where the floor pulled away from the wall at the bottom.

Thanks for all the info. Do not plan to walk on it but there may come a time when it will happen

On our walk-thru the technician told us that it was not a good idea to walk on the edge of the slide-out floor when retracted. He said that the floor is screwed from underneath up into the slide sides (sorry if that didn't make sense). He said that if the floor pulled away, or down, from the slide sides it was a simple fix of re-screwing the slide floor but that it was a hassle. I suppose you might not see this in the manual but I thought it was good advice from the tech who has had occasion to repair these (if it had come from the dealer salesperson I would not have given it as much credence). We sit at the dinette when the slide is retracted but do not step on the edge of the floor.
