Warranty

Just took our 2015 Jayco Eagle in for what I thought was warranty work. I had a propane leak in the hose near the regulator and a screw was supposedly broken off from the gutter above the slide. Camping World said it was not and charged me for the work. Thoughts?

Would have expected it to be warranty as well. Did you tell them "warranty" when you dropped it off?

With it being a 2015 I assumed they would think it was warranty.

That is for sure warranty. My guess is it is a Camping World problem. I would call the service manager and ask them to submit it to Jayco. There is no way I would pay for that kind of stuff. You can call Jayco directly as well if that doesn't get you anywhere.

I might contact Jayco (if the dealer doesn't come around to your way of thinking), that sounds like warranty work to me.

I too had a propane leak in one of my hoses up front (one of the pig tails), my dealer (NOT Camping World) supplied the hose, the tape and the fitting, and I supplied the labor. I wasn't going to tow my trailer all the way over there for something I could do myself in 2 minutes, and he agreed. We both came out ahead.

I contacted Jayco and said they would get back with me tomorrow. I would of fixed it myself if I had of known that too.

Curious is that the dealership you purchased the unit from?

I think you should NOT have paid.
I think you should have called Jayco directly with the service writer.
I think when you dropped the unit off you should have signed and received paperwork indicating what they were doing and any esitmate at that time. And if there was an esitmated I would have refused to sign it since it was warranty work.

That is what I think...

What I know is I would not be going back to that Camping World again.

I hope you didn't pay for it already, I would have a nice talk with the manager of that dealership.

While we used our new Greyhawk from August through December last year, we kept a list of problems encountered and took it to our dealer in January. When we retrieved it I noticed on the paperwork that several items were not fully reimbursed by Jayco, but our dealer covered them. We were not charged a penny.

Hard to believe CW would do that when those were obvious warranty items.

Yes this is the dealer I purchased it from. I would really think it should be covered under warranty. I haven't paid them but I haven't picked it up either.

If you paid by credit card, dispute the charges. I would think that would get the dealers attention to correct this and bill it to Jayco.

Hate to be too negative about this but makes me wonder if they're double billing (you and Jayco).

They may have thought your broke it and wanted it repaired. Regardless of the model year of the rig, how are they suppose to know it's warranty work if you don't tell them?

Communication seems to be lacking from all concerned. It should be easily resolved.

When they run the vin no. of the unit, that tells them everything about its age and its history. I also would have that warranty thing nailed down going in but in truth it shouldn't even be an issue if its a 2015 unit. Only if there was obvious damage caused by something or someone after it was delivered.

Noelle at Jayco said the warranty covered everything except tires and batteries and I should not be charged. The service advisor knew it was warranty work and never even submitted it to Jayco for approval.

The service advisor obviously did not do his job, when he runs the vin# through the system it would show the year, if the unit is still under the warranty period, etc. I would certainly have a talk with him and his manager.
