water inlet question

I have a 2016 Jayco 27.5 RLTS Eagle HT. I want to replace the water inlet where you hook up the hose with something shorter so i can put a quick connect fitting on and be able to close the compartment door. What options do i have?

There are several out there, that you can get at any good hardware store, or big orange or big blue.... I would install a downward ell, so that the weight of the hose isn't straining the connection, and the hose isn't kinked when you close the door.

My fitting has the hose inlet on one end and the other end has a 5/16 opening and I assume there is a check valve in there so water doesn't come back out under pressure from the water pump. the fitting is 3 inches long and the compartment isn't very big. whatever i get has to be a straight on screw in, no room for an L. I assume the 5/16 opening is to control water pressure so i don't thing any old fitting would work? or would it, as long as its a check valve
