Water Leak Around the Nose Cap

After a recent snow melt, I discovered water coming from the molding channel. I've shown this molding in the three pictures. The water is apparently entering from the top and flowing to the opening at the pin box.

So my question is about the construction securing the cap to sides and roof. And how does the molding secure to this cap/sides joint? I've replaced the molding on the corners of corrugated siding. But this molding doesn't appear to have screws, possibly a snap on attachment.

(Yep still learning to post pictures)

Just an idea. On my HT the front saber lights have a hole in the cap the wiring passes thru. On mine the hole was not sealed at all. If you search my posts I have pictures.

same problem

I have the same problem. Checked the roof and sealed some places that were iffy, but really didn't seem to be the problem.
Then Found that the long angled "hornet" lights each funneled water directly to the wire holes that had never been sealed. These were 1/4" holes, so they allowed a lot of water in.
Next I was going to seal all the small round lights, about 10 of them, but didn't get around to it.

Next time I raised the front, water poured out again.

So I'll seal all those lights, and recheck the roof, including the gutter spouts and dry it out again.

Looks like its time to pull down the underside paneling and check for water damage.

In my case, I've been lucky so far- I pull it apart at the seam, and get just enough room to see that the insulation is still white and not moldy. Then reverse my shop vac and blow air in the area all day on a sunny dry day.

We're coming home from a long trip in a few days, and I'll do all that again, plus keep looking for holes to seal.

To remove the molding, cut the caulk on both sides, and pull the molding down. It's flexible, and snaps onto a channel. That channel has screws in it that you will need to remove to get a glimpse of the inside. I have never taken the entire bottom off, but may need to if mold becomes an issue.

Thank You! It took a while to get back to the beginning.

What product have you used to remove Clear Silicone sealer?

I haven't gotten that far. From what I understand, it's difficult to remove, so should not be used on RV's.

A nylon scraper and lots of elbow grease.

I was thinking of something easier.

UPDATE Today I inspected the roof to cap seam and seal. There was a slit in the sealer about 3" long at the far left side. I used a tube self-floating sealer across the entire seam.

A water test to follow
