Water pressure

Just started using an adjustable water pressure regulator on the city water connection with my 2019 Pinnacle and have it set at 45 psi which I like. Anybody ever have any problems (eg. leaks) using water pressure that high?

I've been using the regulator set to around 45 for over a year now and no problems to date....systems should be good for that pressure, not much higher recommended.... I also turn the city water on slowly so as not to blow one of the pesky PEX fittings...even though using regulator.

45 psi is good. Anything over 60 psi, and you might be asking for trouble.

I have mine set at 65 psi for the last two years and have not experienced any problems. I figured if I did it would have been in the first few months.

I have my pressure regulator set at 65 psi. I've used this psi for at least back to our second motor home which we purchased in 05. Never a problem. Most fifth wheels will use PEX tubing. I am assuming it is the same as what is used in stick homes which has a standard of 160 psi at 73 degrees and 100 psi at 180 degrees. I'm not sure about the ratings for the flexible white tubing used in some connections but I've never had an issue with it.

Interested in hearing if anyone has had this happen.
Is it a cannister filter? Don't know what your water pressure is, but could it be it took a while for the cannister to fill up? Just a guess.

Is there a particular water pressure regulator that most RV'ers prefer? I always have used just the cheap limiter one that screws onto the hose and restricts pressure to the point that I just take it off to get enough water pressure to get a decent shower.

I prefer the Renator. Made in the USA and has superior reviews:

I set my regulator at 55 psi and it works perfectly for us and it is the same output pressure from the onboard water pump...

Nothing better (and the price follows) then a Watts:

Watts Adjustable Regulator

Watts has a negligible effect on the water flow; its purely a pressure regulator.

I sent this question to Jayco being very specific to my trailer.

I was SHOCKED at Jayco's answer since I always ran 45 - 50 psi.

Here is my question:

I have a 2016 28BHBE with the thermal package.
I am wondering what is the maximum water pressure the water/plumbing system has been tested for. Wondering what psi water pressure regulator I should get for this trailer?
I want to be safe and not over pressure the system.
Thank you.

Jayco's answer:

Good afternoon and Thank You for reaching out to Jayco customer service. We only recommend putting 25 psi through your pipes. To make sure that you don’t burst a water line or break a seal in the lines.

Thank you,

MY FOLLOW UP:
Thank you for the reply but now I am realty confused.
On page 8-3 of the 2016 Jay Flight owners manual, it states the water pump will pressurize the line to 45 psi. On page 8-4, It states that a water pressure regulator should be set for 45 psi to prevent damage when using a city water connection?

Wondering why you would say 25 psi?

I NEVER GOT AN ANSWER!

I have the same year and Model (no thermal package) - I am wondering if it wasn't a typo and they meant 55 psi? The factory water pump puts out 55! 25 wouldn't even support a shower...

This is the reply I got from Jayco when asked the recommended water pressure.

Thank you for your inquiry. Jayco recommends between 45 & 55 PSI. Your water pump is 55 PSI.

I've heard that the weak link in an RV water system is the toilet flush valve. Just what I've heard...

How can you make sure that: "Keep breather plug on oil filled gauges in an upright position" I've seen numerous configurations when it comes down to CG water supplies. Almost seems like you would need to carry various elbows to insure that.

Why do you use a adjustable one instead of a fixed one? I've been using a fixed one for years with no Problems.

The fixed ones are usually pre-set at 45 psi. I prefer 60 to 65 psi.
