Question Water Pressure Problem

After 7 months on the road I've developed a problem with the water pressure while on city water (never use the water tank). My pressure regulator is set at 60 psi. When we turn on the faucets we get a strong flow for about 2 seconds and then it drops dramatically. My whole house filter cartridge is new. After all this time is it possible for a kink to have developed? Any advice would be appreciated.

Your regulator could be failing, what happens without it?

Do you have a way to test the pressure at the spigot? Just thinking that this sounds like built up pressure being released.

Is it all faucets? Check the strainers on the faucet for debris.

A kink isn't likely to develop in the PEX. It probably would have been that way from the start. The easiest is for you to watch the regulator pressure while DW opens a faucet. They typically drop when you open the faucet but not more than 10 - 15 psig. If it drops a lot then look at a new regulator. Sometimes it may be filled with gunk so you could clean it out with CLR.

Next, drop your filter. It could be the culprit.

If it's happening on all faucets, it's not likely to be gunk in the sink strainers. However, you can clean the by dipping in CLR.

Incoming screen on the city connection full of dirt?

Is there a gauge on your regulator? Have someone turn on a faucet while watching the gauge to see if pressure drops off. That will tell you if it's the supply or inside the rig.

Anyone digging around in a compartment, and bumped the water control valves?

Did you just change the filter? Go open and close the bypass valves again, sometimes dirt can build up at the valve seat.

Have you moved to a new location ? Just because your regulator is set to 60 psi, doesn't mean you will get 60psi. If the water flow is low, even with good pressure than what your experiencing can happen. Pressure is good, but just not enough water flowing to hold that pressure. When it's off, the pressure builds till you open a faucet then it falls off. Also make sure the valve at the pedestal is fully open, so your not restricting the flow rate. Good Luck.

Okay, screen on the inlet is clear. The pressure on the regulator is dropping 20 to 23 psi when I turn the water on...............regulator going bad?

Sounds like it. What happens without the regulator, what is the park pressure? As someone else asked, did you just move to a new location?

How's the pressure at the hose bib with the regulator off of it. Full pressure whenb you open the valve? If it's strong, next step. Hook up water line WITHOUT the regulator for a quick test, and see how the pressure is inside the coach. If the pressure goes up, it's your regulator.

Sometimes regulators need to be "cycled" if they have an adjustable screw/knob. Back it all the way out and screw it back in. They can collect dirt too, and get clogged. Then disconnect the hose going from the regulator to the rig, turn the hose bib on, and see what type of pressure exists coming OUT of the regulator.

Much better without the regulator. We've been at the same park for nearly two months and the problem just started about two weeks ago. Park pressure is 90+ psi. No one else having this problem. The regulator (Renator) is only 4 months old.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy a whole house regulator along with the necessary pipe thread to hose adapters and you won't look back. For one thing a whole house regulator gives you a full 3/4" orifice compared to the ones in an RV regulator.

I called Renator and they said the regulator has gone bad and they are sending me a replacement.......will see if this cures the problem.

Now you can take the current apart and see how it works. Maybe fix it for a backup. BTW we carry the cheap non adjustable kind just in case something like that happens. Since 1988 we hav had three fail..

Update: Received the new regulator from Renator and it didn't help the problem much. The bathroom faucet and toilet, which are just above the docking station and closer to the source, have good pressure. The kitchen faucet seems to have a lot less pressure both on hot and cold. I'm at a loss at this point.

Have you checked the screen on your water inlet valve where the hose connects to your rig?

Yes, and it's very clean.

I actually removed the screen and it didn't help. I'm thinking it may be the nozzle itself. If I can find out the brand of faucet I would buy a replacement nozzle to see if that helps. Anyone know what brand this is?

How is the pressure in the shower? It's time to play where is it? Where is it not? If the shower, toilet, and BR sink don''t have the problem with both HW and CW, and only the kitchen sink does, then you have an issue with the kitchen faucet. That's because you said it occurs with both HW and CW. If that is the case, then the common is only the kitchen faucet. So, the end of the faucet with the screen, or the faucet is plugged. Does it have a retractable hose? If so take the end off then You can probably soak the nozzle in CLR to get the crud out. Check the flow with the nozzle off. BTW it's the same faucet that's in our north Point.
