Weight on Rear Bumper

How much weight can you place on the rear bumper of an Eagle HT? I want to put a cargo tray in the 2" receiver. Thanks.

That is a good question! I have a Pinnacle and I want to do something similar. I couldn't find out so I called Jayco Tech support and I got the answer that they recommend a bike rack, but that is to protect them from liability. If they told you XXX pounds and something happened they would get the blame. The Tech said that if you damage the frame it will void your warranty. I'm still looking/asking around. if you find out, let me know.

Pretty sure it says how much it can hold on the hitch itself, but if you don't have one i can look at mine the next time i go to it. I think it was only like 300 pounds.

My Eagle HT is rated for 3k towing on the 2" receiver. Assuming 15% as the required tongue weight, that would be 450lbs on a auto/truck. Not sure the calculation on when using a tandem tow, which is what that 3k rating is.

When I was buying, I was looking at having the on board gen-prep/Onan installed. My dealer tried to sway me towards looking at portable generator mounted on a cargo platofrm off the hitch. Said that was the common, cheap way to do it. I ended up going with the Onan, fwiw. Didn't want the hassle of removing/installing/fueling a separate generator, as well has having to keep it chained up and out of the elements.

If the Jayco cargo hitch is the same as on our Jay Flight, I was told by Jayco max is 300lbs. But one thing I didn't ask was how far out from the hitch is that rating for.

.
The OP is only connecting the receiver to the rear bumper, not to the frame. Mine was 300 LBS MAX. for a rear bumper setup.

I take that back... I my notes specify 100#s, but the 300 was with a bumper support mounting package that I was looking at... but no longer is available

Apparently, there is a "cargo carrying accessory receiver" that is rated at 300# but then the manual goes on to state that the "rear bumper" has a rating of 100#. The OP probably needs to consult his/her owner's manual to make correct decision.
