We're new!

Hey y'all!
Just sealed the deal on a new to us 2010 Designer 37RLQS. looking forward to adventuring and learning all I can about our "mobile retirement villa"
Any "typical to this model" type things I should be aware of out of the gate?
Thanks,
Dave

Probably the best way to learn all of your new to you items is to setup camp in your back yard or driveway and camp a few nights... I always found what I needed from WALMART or local LOWES stores...

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State! Congratulations on the Designer!
"Camp Driveway" is a good way to work out any bugs, and find out if there's anything you need to put onboard, that you may have forgotten, before you travel far from home.

Thanks y'all! Looks like Camp Driveway's ( well a campground within a mile...) Will be first stop before parking at it's storage lot. Original owner has kept very good care of it and it's never seen a day at his home out from under the carport/ canopy structure as the shine attests to. I don't have that luxury and after reading the Camping World buyers' reviews of covers don't think there is one that'll last very long. Any recommendations before I start messaging marine cover mgrs?
Also when I inquired about slide seal preservation with owner, he said when he bought it new, dealership said to apply talcum/ baby powder to them which he said he's always done. Honestly they quite soft and pliable. The roof's 10 years old and there's no evidence of leaks and I trust the orig owner when he says he's had no issues with the roof, BUT seems like around 10 years roofs in general end up needing attention from the research I've done Since it's lived life under a carport thing it may still have some time before needing anything. Any tips on what/ how to stretch out the roof life as long as I can?
Thanks

Welcome from a former Huey UH-1D passenger with 12 combat assaults and some door gunner fill in days. Loved those flights and the M60.

Happy RVing,
Jeff

Welcome Aboard!

Big thing to do is keep an eye on the roof. You should check the caulking twice a year (minimum). Touch up the caulk as needed. I used Eternabond over all my caulking. Now I do not worry about the caulking. I still check the roof for damage (trees, weather, etc).

Also check the caulking around the lights, walls and hatch seals.

Take it easy and enjoy.

Designer

Welcome from WA state! I have an 02 Designer 3230 and I love it! I have the roof professionally checked every two years and just tell them to do what they need to. Cheap insurance against an unnoticed leak! IMHO..... the first few trips being close to home is very wise and you might want to check the age of your tires. This is a great place for help on any problem!
