Up until last spring, we were towing a big Rockwood Signature Ultra-Lite with an F250 with camper package and some other mods. DH found a new F350 Platinum dually diesel with the 5th wheel package from the factory, and the Ford dealer honored the X-plan price on it. It's a 2016. We sold our F250 privately and never looked back. We then knew we could pull (almost) anything, and that's when I started looking at the North Points. Ended up with a 2017 375 BHFS a year ago. He got the Curt 5th wheel, and we feel safe and secure. We tow very heavy, with no problems.

On the scales we were over GCVWR by 500 and truck gvwr by 200 with 6.6k on rear axle. I don’t remember some of the other values. We packed carefully and light to achieve these numbers.

Will it it tow it? No doubt it will. Any of the big 3 will. We did this for a year. Instability at times made us rethink and we decided to go to a DRW. 99.5% of the time we we were good. It was the remaining % that convinced us after an experience or two.

After towing now it was the smartest thing we could have done. No more tail wagging the dog. The front living was on our short list but the 387 won out due to storage.
^^this^^ Pretty much similar to my story with regards to tow vehicle. Started off towing the 377 with a 2500 with airbags. It towed alright, but just wasn't comfortable. I upgraded to a 3500 Dually and haven't had any problems since. I think it will work out for you, but it will depend on your comfort level.

I know right! I picked the truck with 21k miles (Ford verified) almost 3 years ago. A few pics attached.

Truck looks great! I love the back seat console and the KR leather (the good KR leather). I miss my old 06!

By the way, I came across your 377 Mod thread. It's inspiring... I wanted to ask you how are the Sailun tires? Deciding between those and the GY Endurance (which I can actually get cheaper installed from GY.)

Thanks.

What a nice truck... I don't buy leather seats, but those look really good.

Wow! That's quite a find. We bought our '06 new in '06 and have put 355k miles on it.

The Sailun tires are awesome! No issues in over 3-1/2 years. They are seriously heavy duty tires. I highly recommend them. Not bashing the GY endurance by any means as they have been earning a great reputation but for me, the G rated Sailun wins as long as your rims are capable of handling the 110 psi (you don’t “have” to inflate them that high, btw)

355k mies, that is encouraging! I debated whether to upgrade but am pretty well invested in this truck. When I got it I wanted to take care of the known issues, so below is my list of mods thus far (not to hi-jack camper thread but since you are a fellow 6.0 owner.)

- Arp (625+) Studs. I went with extra strong arp studs over regular since I planned to keep this truck for a long time.
- EGR delete
- New Exhaust 4" MBRP
- Polyurethane with Kevlar body mounts
- Bluespring upgrade
- New filters air, fuel, etc...
- Rancho Steering Stabilizer
- New Michelin tires all the way around
- brake rotors cut
- new tow pads
- new brake calipers
- Spray-in liner
- B&W Turnover Ball Gooseneck Hitch
- FireStone Airbags
- Airlift Quickshot Onboard Compressor ControlSystem (box built to have under truck) Dual lines gauge/controller under dash. Coupler connection for providing air to truck, trailer, and bike tires. (Upfitter Switch Controlled)
- Train airhorn installed under truck (Upfitter Switch Controlled)
- I also replaced the spare key/lock since it did not have the key
- I also add Cetane at every fill up
- SCT Livewire with tunes from Innovative
- trans oil change and added 08 filter and cover
- coolant flush and switch to Rotella ELC-Cat1 rated
- coolant filter system added
- differential fluid change to Royal Purple with 08 diff alum / slotted cover
- high idol mod (Upfitter Switch Controlled)
- Manual Fan Control (Upfitter Switch Controlled)
- Oil change Rotella Synthetic and Amsoil additive added
- Leece Neville 230 Alt with Overdrive pully
- FICMRepair Alternator Wiring kit & Fuse Holder w/250AMP fuse
- Battery Tender under hood
- 2 New Batteries
- 03-UP 5R110 Stage 2 Direct Solenoid SSPC-D Upgrade
- 03-UP 5R110 Stage 2 EPC Solenoid EPC/PC-A Upgrade
- FICM Atlas 40
- Ceramic Tint all the way around

That’s quite the list....

One thing I did to mine was to add an extra ground cable to a stud on the block. Also added larger gauge cable between alternator to battery and between batteries. I never “needed” to upgrade either the FICM or the alternator. FTE is a wealth of information on the 6.0

Edit

Not sure if you’ve upgraded the STC fittings, stand pipes and dummy tubes but those are known weaknesses as well

I spoke with Jayco and they said my rims are rated 110. They should be the same as yours. Since we are chatting. I am getting some upgrades done on camper, I don't have time to work on it much myself so I am taking it to dealer and creating a long list for them. Right now camera (with side cameras too,) the internal surge protector you guys listed, etc... I notice you have shocks and wet bolts upgrades.

What shocks did you go with?

Also what were your thoughts on (1) MORryde UO12-016 Heavy Duty Shackle Upgrade Kit, CRE3000 / Stock / Equaflex 2.25" Shackles - Tandem Axle and (2) MORryde UO21-003 X Factor Performance Crossmembers - SRE, CRE, Stock and Other Equalizers ?

Sorry for all the questions...

I went with Lippert shocks. The fitment wasn’t great, but they have been working fine. If I were to do it over again, I’d spend the extra money on the Joy Riders. (I think they were bought out by someone and have a different name now)

I installed the wet bolt kit and X-brace. I have the stock CRE3000. I think the wet bolts and HD shackles are a must. The plastic stock bushings are junk and wear out very quickly. I’m happy with how my trailer tows. I’m not 100% sure of the effects of adding the X brace cross member but it does add extra strength and stability to the shackles so I would definitely add it as well.

I will have to check those out. I went overboard with the wiring and Alternator.

Since I’m spending your money, I would also suggest getting rid of the plastic CAC tube on the cold side and replace it with a metal one from an 03 model

That's funny. I was going to order that today but have diverted my budget for camper upgrades this spring.

Since you had a 6.0 would you worry about towing the 15k# NorthPoint across the country?
