I was looking at 8-10 ft kayaks but wanted something more stable. I have a Colorado XT personal pontoon boat. It's lightweight, stable and disassembles/assembles in minutes and stores in a small area. Plenty of room for gear, rods etc. Just bring something to inflate the pontoons. I looked at the Porta Boats as well, but the huge price swayed me another direction.

I have a Sea Eagle inflatable kayak. Can't say that I love it but it's easy to carry and use and I haven't found anything better.

We have a two person inflatable kayak that we love. Also have an inflatable dinghy with a high pressure inflatable floor and a 2HP Honda motor. They both fit easily in the back of the pickup and are super easy to manage. The dinghy and motor are a bit heavy though. You can check several choices out at westmarine.com

Thanks for the feedback, looking at the Sea Eagle 9 with the hard floor and motor mount. Anyone have any experience with it? Reviews are good and for fishing I like the seats and a place to put the battery. Need to go see one in person and see how roomy they are. Thanks

I went out and spent about $2000 for an inflatable with a hard bottom, 12 volt air pump and a 3 hp engine. Used it twice. If you can't moor your boat at your camp site, it is just too much like work to go fishing every day. The wife now pulls our boat and trailer. I pull the 5th wheel!! If it's more then 300 miles from home, I bank fish or rent a boat.

I don't know if they still have it but Sea Eagle used to have a no-questions-asked, 180 day return policy.

I had owned several sea eagles. I liked the 6 the best but they quit making them. Just like smaller 5th wheels. The floor boards and motors were way too much work and too much space. Get the smallest raft and oars. Windsurf when the wind comes up. Life will be good.

My choice is a 9' Outcast pontoon boat

I love my Outcast pontoon boat - easy to put together and inflate with a 12v high speed pump. Each 9' foot pontoon inflates in less than 60 seconds and takes up very little space when transporting. I use it for still water fly fishing. Picture is Eagle Lake, CA in 2012 with the south end of the lake in the background.
