UP Date: OK so the last trip we took from Salt Lake to Mesa Verde in October was a great trip but the mountains grades showed me how inadequate the condition of my old Chevy really was. Scared the crap out of me a couple of time, overheated the tranny and barely got us back home.

In November we found a new 2017 F250 XT Long Bed Standard Cab 6.7 Liter Power stroke with only 15,700 miles on it. I say new because if you did not know it had 15,000 miles on it you would swear it was new. Got a very good deal on it as it has sat on the lot for almost 4 months. No one wants a standard cab truck, expect for me. This way we can only take one grand child with us at a time! Looking forward to many fun and easy trips in the coming years.

Note: There is no app for JOF. If you are using TapaTalk, you miss a lot of content. If you go to the website on a smart phone and scroll down and select full view, you will get much more viewing pleasure.

A couple of years back our 351 RLTS weighed 12700# with 3k# on the pin. With he growth of “stuff” in the basement I’m probably close to 13k# now. Our F350 SRW 2WD handles the load nicely. A general estimate suggests the should we get to 14k# I’d be too close (or over) the Rear GAWR which would put us into Dually territory. While I admit that I lust for some of the newer (and larger) floorplans we are very happy with our current 5th and it’s big enough, and any larger unit would likely require a bigger TV too.

That said, couple years back I was talking with a fellow towing around 16k# with an F150. Air bags kept it level and it towed fine.
He also leases and gets a new one every few years.

2015 Silverado 3500HD Crewcab long box 4x4 DRW.
It pulls our 44' 2017 Northpoint 375BHFS.
I tried to post a pic but it keeps coming in upside down. I even tried a flipping the pic 180* and saving it that way and even that didnt workout.
Oh well.
