What truck are you towing with?

I've got a 2008 F250 4x4 V10. I'm looking at the 26 series HT 5th wheels. My question is will this truck bed be to high to tow this 5th wheel in a level position. My truck is at stock height, but all I see in Jayco adds are references to towing with 1/2 ton two wheel drive trucks. Is anyone towing with this type of vehicle and if so is the 5th wheel level while towing?
Thanks
Bill

My 5er tows perfectly level with my stock 2500 GMC Duramax (see below). But, the newer trucks, even the 1/2 ton units are being built higher so unfortunately it's difficult to tell. IMHO some of the HT units have too much pin weight to be pulled by a 1/2 ton...again IMHO

I am towing with truck in my signature. You will have no problems with your bed height. You can adjust the hitch, and pin box to suit your needs.

Thanks for the replies. I've been towing TT for many years, but the 5th wheel is a new thing for me.

See signature, but my tail is extremely high, and I'm towing a fiver, no problems with no modifications. I think you'll be just fine.

We had to modify both tv and rv to get level- We replaced the stock hangers on the tv to lower the rear of the tv- The rear was approx. 3" higher than the front- We also had to "flip" the rv's axles to raise the rv- We now tow in a level configuration- Be sure you have 5" or more clearance between top of tv box and bottom of rv overhang- Don't ask me how I know to be sure you meet this requirement- JMHO- DD

My '06 Chevy 2500HD has pulled a 2008 Jayco SuperLite Eagle 28.5 and my current 2012 Pinnacle with no adjustments needed for level towing. I did have airbags installed to compensate for the additional pin weight of the Pinnacle as the 2500 did have a bit of sag.

Guess I'm not answering your question about your F250, tho'! My bad.

Good luck have fun

You will probably be fine with that unit, just make sure you get the clearance at the bed without putting the unit out of level. You will end up with chucking if it gets too high. I pull my Designer with my F350DW 7.3PSD no problem. The new Pinacles are the same weight and I see guys pulling with single rear wheels and not sure how their truck handles that load, even if it's a one ton.

I pull my 2011 265RKS with a 2" lifted 2003 F250 Super Duty, power stroke, short box 4x4 and a Lund boat behind that. In order to have box clearance I needed to run a little out of level, but has never bothered the towing or units at all. I never camp unless I am unhooked, so it is not an issue for me.

I pull with 2012 30.5 BHLT with a 4" lifted duramax and it rides just about level, if I don't put too much air in the air bags and leave a little sag in her. I still might have to make some 5'er spring adjustments though.
