Wheel locking up/greasing buddy bearings

Have a 2020 JAYCO eagle 355, one tire locks up when braking. I normally run 8.0 gain and have had no issue , this just started today. Got it to top once I brought gain all the way to 3.5. Could something be hanging up ?Also any insight on greasing wheel bearings, just pop cover off and have at it ?

Hi two part answer
Locking up could be the adjust has overadjusted or it could be a number of other things
Needs to be looked at by a tech since your rig is in warranty.
As for the bearing buddy
You DO NOT just pump grease in them. There is a procedure.. Wheel jacked up and you spin it while using a gentle squeeze on the grease gun on a warm hot day.
It is better to do a proper wheel off bearing inspection and lube than using the bearing buddy method in my humble opinion
Inspection for inside seal brake shoe wear and any grease in the drum.

YMMV

Wheel locking up/greasing buddy bearings

On Tapatalk so can’t see what type of tow vehicle you have. 8.0 on one is different than another. I know with mine, a Chevy, I keep it at 6.5. There’s been a few times when the trailer tires felt a little grabby. Stopping, shutting everything down and plugging in again took care of it. I’d have a look too at all the obvious connection points near the axles.

As stated above, be cautious with the Dexter Easy Lube. Follow the procedure. I’ve done it without issue.

Thanks - it’s a F350. I’ve towed over 3k miles at 8.0 . I’ll see what it does when I leave campground on Tuesday

If it were me, I would remove the problem drum and inspect it. Could be a host of problems: metal to metal, shorted magnet, obstruction between drum and magnet broken parts, etc. My live cargo in my TV is to valuable to chance it.

If one wheel locks up, take the suggested step to remove the drum for inspection.
