Hoojs12840,
I am running the G614 235/85/R16's on my North Point. There is not that much difference between these and the 235/80/R16's. They are just a little taller and a little narrower tire. Certainly not enough difference to be an issue.

You asked about what rims I had in a previous reply . . . I have not taken the time to figure out how to post pics on here yet. If you want to PM me your email address or cell # I'll be glad to shoot you back a picture of the rims on my camper.

Hi Schooner,
On our 38 FLSA, I had to replace the wheels as well as they were stamped for 3560 lbs and the Sailun's are 4080 lb tires. Please check the wheels which came on your Pinnacle and upgrade if needed.
Love the Sailun tires.

Doing an inspection today in preparation for our trip from MD to California and back next Friday and saw this. I was on the fence before but now I am going to upgrade the tires.

I'm thinking the Maxxis 8008's as they run 80PSI so they for sure will work with my wheels. I'm going to crawl under there tomorrow and see if my rims are capable of 110psi, but they have rubber valve stems so I'm skeptical.

I leave for Canada tomorrow, so I have to order the tires, have them delivered to my house, then run the trailer over to a tire installer Thursday evening.

Should have just replaced them to start with.

Hoojs,

Get some Sailun tires and never look back. They're g rated. Really built well....like semi truck kinda tire. Probably around the same price as the Maxxis but much heavier duty. Look for S637 at simpletire.com. That's where I got mine.

Would they work on rims rated for 80psi? I'm going to try and look tomorrow to see what they are rated for.

Oddly enough I am traveling to Canada tomorrow, Saliun's would be easy to get there. Not sure customs would be thrilled with me bringing them back across the border.

Wheel psi rating?

Double check your rims. Mine are rated at 110 psi. If yours are in fact 80 psi, you can still use them, but you won't get the maximum load carry capacity. I believe you get 3750 ish pounds at 110 psi.

On edit: if your rims aren't stamped 110 psi, you can call tredit ( or check their website) to confirm the wheel rating.

Looks like the Sailuns are cheaper as well. If my rims are good for the 110 psi I will go with those.

Good choice. You will not believe how heavy the tires are and how thick the rubber is compared to the stock tires. The tire alone is heavier than the stock rims and tires. You will really be shocked at how flimsy and cheap those oem tires really are. When you get the Sailuns you'll know what I'm talking about.

Mine are stamped max payload 3580. Anyone know if that is 80psi or 110?

Same as I have on mine. The rims are payload rated to be more than the axle rating (2 rims@3580>1 axle@7000). The rims can handle the 110psi. I've had my sailuns on for 7-8 months without issue.

Then Sailuns it is. I checked Amazon last night and in spirit on how my week has gone they had 3 in stock. So I'll call my local tire dealers in the am and if nothing order them to be shipped.

Thanks again for all the help.

Make sure you get the metal valve stems when you get them installed.

Good call, that picture is a warning of things to come. I would not go any farther than the tire shop and very slowly.

I run Gladiator QR35-TR tires. They are a 14 ply G rated tire and cost the same as GoodYear Marathon's. Just got back from a 2700 mile trip to the Black Hills, and ran most of the time with the cruise seat 72-74 mph. These Gladiators are rated at 95 Psi. I had them on my 365 BHS and moved them to my 377RLBH and have accumulated 12,000 miles, and they are wearing great. They are basically a semi-tractor steer tire. I stay off of this form mainly because of threads like this. I have said this once and will say it 1000 times for all the "experts" on here. I have read 100's of post about tire failure and a rare few about wheel failure. I don't know what my wheels are rated at and I don't care. They should be rated to carry the load of my trailer, and 15 psi of extra pressure or for that matter 35 psi is not going to cause a wheel failure. If I was going to buy a new tire for my 5ver it would be a Gladiator or a Saliun tire. I would not waste my money on GoodYear G rated tires or moving to H tires. Too many people have had great luck with the Gladiator or Saliun tire.

For what it's worth do yourself a favour and instead of putting on better 16's do the 17.5" inch upgrade. Higher load rating, higher pressure, and commercially rated tires. The search function will lead you to the tire upgrade promised land.

I ordered the Sailun g637 today and they will be delivered tomorrow. I don't get home until Thursday so hopefully the mounting goes smooth. I had them shipped to a local truck tire shop I have used before. $587.00 shipped seems like a good deal.

I had to go with the 235/85/16 as they don't carry the 235/80/16's.

I could never get a clear answer to what my wheels are rated at. They are 3580lbs for 8lug. One place said they are marked inside on the barrel but I found nothing. Last fall I replaced the TowMax's with S637's. I put 13,000km on them this past winter with no issues. I never towed loaded with the Towmax's so I can't compare the ride to know whether it's the tires or not but the stuff inside my fiver takes a heck of a beating.
