Whirlpool residential fridge
Just getting everything set up full time in my 2018 Seismic, and I'm noticing the ice maker doesn't work on the side-by-side fridge. The water dispenser does work. Unit has never been used before. Here's what I've done so far:
-pulled the fridge base plate, water line connections good to go.
-pulled rear access panel, all connections good to go
-flipped the on/off switch for the ice maker, nothing happens
-tested water pressure in accordance with manual, good to go.
-called Jayco, referred to Whirlpool.
**things that don't seem right:
-nothing clicks or makes any noise when the on/off switch is flipped
- the arm that shuts the ice maker off when the bucket gets full, doesn't drop any lower than flush with the top of the bucket...as if ice would have to go higher than the top of the bucket to shut it off.
- the ice tray is stuck in the down/flipped over position.

Have you tried holding the power switch to the right for a few seconds? I think that makes the arm move maybe you can see of that is even working.

I’ll ask a dumb question. You say the shut off arm is horizontal. I assume you pushed it down by hand like you do on a frig at home? I would say yes but had to ask.

My whirlpool fridge in my NorthPoint says right next the power button to hold power button for 5 seconds and I believe it has to go to the right (off) position to relocate the arm that sits in the tray. Sorry don’t have my unit to look at it closer but that is what I saw.

Not a dumb question...trust me I'm a little embarrassed about asking for help with a frickin ice maker. I tried to push it down like a fridge at home (and like the picture says it should for the ice maker to make ice), but it would snap off if I pushed any harder...never brakes the plane of being horizontal.

That’s a problem. Somewhere, somehow that got stuck in the off position. Whirlpool should be able to help with that issue. I’m not familiar with a power button on the ice maker myself only the on/off ice bar. Let us know what you find out. Good luck.

I'll have to digest this one while looking at my fridge. The only power button I see is inside the ice bucket compartment, on the left hand side and it's just a toggle switch that goes up and down.

Solid copy. Very much appreciated and I'll re-post if/when I get this $80,000 ice maker sorted out.

Okay that sounds different than mine. My goes left and right. Guess they may changed this up.

Yessir, this is all I've got to work with that I have been able to investigate.

I did. Well not me, but I called whirlpool and gave them the model/serial number and verified it was under warranty, then they searched a local repair guy. I called the company and he came out, tested the ice maker unit and it was bad. He had one in the truck and it took him about 5 minutes to replace and be gone. He said those units just go bad at some point..."cheap stuff from China".
