Wife wants a 5er

My wife wants to upgrade our current trailer to a fifth wheel. We have been so happy with our Eagle and would like to stay with a Jayco. Our friends have just purchased a Reflection trailer which is really nice but with research I have done I just see many component issues that are hard to overlook although we love the floor plans. I really like the Eagle 321RSTS floor plan although it is a little bigger in length than we kind of want. I would like to stay around 32' total. So the shopping begins. I do have a one ton truck so I am good to go with the size of trailer we want.

We ordered our second Jayco Pinnacle and it should be delivered this month. We have hosted for the last 2 years and can tell you honestly that every manufacturer has problems, yes even the $400k bug rigs break. Jayco has been awesome with their 2 year warranty. The quality and standard equipment has always aided our decision. Eagle and Nortg Points are great rigs too. Good luck on your hunt!

Yep, we have had several small problems with our rig, but, overall it is what we wanted. A few mods here and there and it is sturdy and reliable, even after hauling it on some pretty rough roads.

We used 35' as our limit and am very happy with our choice.

This is our third RV and all of them were built about the same.

Based on some threads inspect even a new one carefully to make sure there is no damage to it during shipping.

PS you will LOVE towing the fiver after having a TT

This is my favorite part of the buying process. Love looking at the floorplans, especially when it's the one I want.

Good Luck!

We went through this same thing beginning last fall. We had a Rockwood Signature Ultra-Lite TT and loved it, but we were looking for a bigger master BR and more of a "residential" feel--thinking it would be our retirement home one day. We looked at lots of floor plans and did some research, and I hit on the Jayco product. We went to a couple of different dealers and almost pulled the trigger last fall, but we had to sell our TT first, and with the camping season almost over here, that didn't happen until this spring...long story short, in the meantime hubby upgraded to a Ford F350 ton truck, diesel, dually, and then the rest was bound to happen. We got our new Jayco North Point in April.

Good luck with your hunt!

Happy Wife Happy Life.

Unless it's a problem where your going to park it at home I don't think you'll notice the difference in lenght. Except when your inside then you'll LOVE it.

The 321RSTS is a great floor plan and one we considered before going with our current rig. Something to keep in mind with the 5er is that your overall length may not change much, if at all, from your TT because of the amount of trailer over the bed of the truck. IIRC we were within 6" going from a 29' TT to a 37' 5er.

Night and day towing experience with the 5er, and hitching is a lot quicker and easier.

Welcome to the "My wife wants" club! We recently picked out a 2018 Jayco Eagle HT 28.5 RSTS (loaded) and are very happy with it so far. Jayco has the best warranty around and they make a pretty solid trailer. We got a helluva deal through Costco. They've got the haggle all worked out ahead of time so there isn't much left to worry about. If you live in a state like Oregon, there's NO sales tax either! Happy trails my friend!

We have the 330RSTS TT, which is the exact same floor plan as the 321RSTS and I agree that it's a great floor plan. Once the DW saw it with the bedroom slideout, kitchen island and HUGE shower, game over!

I personally would have preferred the 321RSTS to get to a smaller overall length, but I lease my trucks and the leasing company frowns on me punching holes in the bed to put in a 5th wheel hitch, I had to stick with a bumper pull. Even though our 330RSTS is almost 40' long, it pulls fantastic with my 3/4 ton. The only downside is not being able to get into some smaller campgrounds/sites but since we are mainly seasonal, hasn't been an issue as of yet.

The 28.5 RSTS HT 5'er is close.

Good luck on your search.

This was the logic I was using. My trailer is 28'3" so add about 4-5 more feet for the overhang and we are at 32-33' with no difference in overall length. We are waiting until spring our daughter gets married next June so we have an expense there and then hopefully we will have a new fifth wheel to go to her wedding in North Dakota. Will be much nicer towing than our current trailer. BC to ND is a long haul.

The Jayco Eagle HT 28.5 RSTS is known as the couples coach! Beautiful coach and plenty of storage.

My wife and I bought a 2016 28.5 RSTS Eagle HT back in January and love it. It's 32'10" and it has a hitch so you can pull a trailer behind it If you like. We pull a jet ski trailer behind ours so that's one reason I went with the Eagle HT. Remember that almost every States total pulling length is 65' If you go with a 5er longer than 34' you'll be getting close to the max length. Plus the heavest Eagle HT is almost 1000lbs lighter than the lightest Eagle 5er. Happy hunting Bud...😃
