Window Condensation

With the cold weather upon us, those of us who have single pane windows face condensation! The water runs down the wall later in the morning as the temp warms up. Anyone with suggestions on alleviating the condensation other than changing to double pane glass? I have heard about using bubble wrap which would have to be removed daily and dried out.

Keep the heat down during the night and crack a window open a bit. During the day use a similar approach.

Agree with the open window or even a roof vent cracked open a bit. Propane creates mositure and so does breathing. Leaving a vent or window cranked open a little could really help.

X2 ... add cooking, washing dishes, showering to the list of moisture contributors.

In our class B we got rid of the condensation by opening the ceiling vent slightly and opening a window slightly by our heads.

Crack window/ceiling vent. Use electric space heater in place of propane heat (if it's freezing temps you'll still want to use propane heat to help the belly stay warmish). Dehumidifier. Have fun!

Thank you for all of your suggestions! Will put them to the test this weekend - high temp of 45 at the fall festival we are going to!

The hard part is getting one quiet enough to be acceptable in the tight confines of an RV. I've only found one such critter but it had a high failure rate and after going through two of them I'm on a quest to find a replacement. Hopefully you can find one that satisfies your needs.

We too also eliminated our condensation issues, with leaving the bathroom vent cracked, maybe ½-1 inch, and we keep a couple windows just cracked.

The moisture wants to go to where it is cooler, so an open window or vent gives it an escape route.

Same process for us, leave the bathroom vent open slightly at high point in trailer, heat pulls condensation out and windows are clear.

Our is by no means quiet, nor cheap, and I often turn it off if we are going to watch t.v. and it has decided to run. Otherwise it’s on auto and only runs once the humidity rises to the set percentage. At night it’s just white noise to me and beats the alternative of dripping windows and walls. There were times during this crazy hot humid summer we were dumping almost 6 gallons a day. Opening the windows and running fans just let more hot wet air inside so that was no help. The AC helped some but only when it was running and then it just felt cool and wet. The dehumidifier was a godsend in that situation.

We run the A/C and the electric fireplace and set the thermostat so the A/C cycles on occasionally. Humidity stays at 45%

I used window insulator kits made for single pane residential windows. Simply apply the provided double face tape, stick the provided clear plastic and use a hair dryer to shrink the plastic. Remove it when your done for the cold season. Works great

Dehumidifier. Ecoseb dd122ea simple. I have 2 in 2 different units. It is a dessicant based dehumidifier so it doesn’t make the noise of a compressor driven one. Great little units no problems in 4 winter’s. More than ample for an RV. On high it will get a lot of moisture out of the air in a hurry. There is some Fan noise but it’s far from terrible in my opinion. Specially compared to other units I’ve owned over the years. I can bring the humidity down to whatever I want with it. I have a little humidity monitor and it’s best to keep it around 40 or 50% at least here in the Deep South that’s pretty good running number.

We have a 2010 Jayco 22FB tt. I purchased alarge Damp-Rid about $10.00. Works great! Can be found at most stores. Good luck.

A great deal depends on the exterior temp. We would be out when temps went to 10. I don’t believe anything except the plastic film on the windows would work. It’s a little work but sure makes it warmer and no frost. At 10 that condensation will freeze.
