I open the low point drain and blow out the line. Then I close the drain and blow out the fridge while pressing and holding a cup under the water dispenser. Works for me, but I'm in North TX...don't get too many freezes down here and if we do, they typically only last a few days.

I do the same as Danno. But I use a blank filter cartridge when I blow it out.
Then take the hose apart (shark bite type fitting) behind the bottom cover at the bottom of the freezer door and let water out there.
Then pressurize with air again and let the ice maker valve cycle.
