I tried air by itself, but as I inspected the lines I found pockets where the water still settled and was concerned - also the pump and the pump filter seemed to keep quite a bit of water in it. I usually blow out my lines, then pump anti-freeze. By doing that - I tend to use at least a gallon less anti-freeze.

I pump anti-freeze in my lines, but "lightly" blow out the black tank rinse line.

I have used air for many years and it gets down to single digit temps here in northern MD, never had a problem. If you do it properly you should be OK.

I used anti-freeze once and it took forever to get it out of the system. I use only air now and have never had a problem. But, you have to make sure you get all the water out. I hook up an air compressor to the water inlet and go to each fixture twice to make sure its all out. I do pour a little anti-freeze in the traps. I forgot to do the traps last year but nothing broke. Good Luck

Anti-freeze never failed me (but then, now that I've said that, ask me next spring!)

I blow out the lines first & then run antifreeze thru them then blow out again. whatever residual remains protects any low lying areas.
