Winterizing tips..

Hey guys, I'm want to attempt winterizing my 2016 29.5bhds myself. Can anyone give me some tips on what I'll need for the job? I do know I'll need two gallons of antifreeze. Im not really sure where the pump is located? Not sure what kind of fitting I'll need to hook to the pump for the antifreeze line? Also what size tubing to use for the antifreeze line? The videos on Youtube are pretty self explanatory but any help from fellow Jayco owners would make things that much easier.

Kevin

Lots of good info here on the link below. If you run into a specific problem or question during the process just ask. Perhaps someone with your model can verify where the pump and valves are. If you turn on the pump you should be able to hear generally where it is located. The winterizing tubing should be on the pump.

I think most of them come with the hose attached to the pump. Not sure on your model though. Can't help with pump location. One tip to remember is bypass and drain hot water heater before pumping antifreeze. I also drain the lines first so the antifreeze doesn't get diluted.

It's so easy your going to kick yourself.
First you want to open your low point drains (one at a time ) and blow air through the city water inlet (40 PSI ).
Close the low point drains and then insert the tube that's attached to your water pump into a gallon of antifreeze.
Turn on the pump and turn on the say bath cold water till it runs pink then do the shower cold then kitchen cold and outside shower.
Do the same to the hot line and while it's still under pressure open the low points for just a second or two just in case there's a little water in those lines.
Now this step is important also, even thou you think your fresh water tank is empty you should check under the trailer and check that drain line because they usually sag and hold water just make sure it's empty or else if it freezes that plastic drain valve will crack and will need replacing just when your ready to go camping next season.

Not in all cases. Some of the manuals are very vague and general in nature, covering many models. The pump and valve location may not be in the manual for each specific model unless they have dramatically improved them lately.
