Wow - 377 RLBH trade shock

Wow, I am in shock.

Went to RV show over the weekend.

Not much there from Jayco, but saw a Brinkley G3500 that we found interesting.

Asked for numbers on trading our 2021 NP 377 and wow was I surprised.

Needless to say, we will be keeping our Northpoint.

Brinkley is nice, but insanely expensive and the trade over on my NP was insanely low.

My 2021 is paid for..

They wanted me to give them my unit plus $120K for the Brinkley G3500 with taxes and fees. No Thank you.

Oh, and the fees were insane. $4500 freight & $3800 set up fee.

A Jayco sales girl at the Tampa show was trying to get us to trade our Pinnacle. We let her quote a trade, and when she offered 50K for our unit I just laughed. It is paid for and we are happy keeping it.

Us too, our friends we camp with feel the same way about their Cedar Creek.

I love how the MSRP of new have sky rocketed, but ours declined.

Some quick math with typical discounts on MSRP makes it seem like they offered you 20k for the NP. Those charges are crazy. Brinkley is the latest and greatest, but still kind of crazy.

I do't know the exact policies on each rv outlets as it relates to how they fund lot inventory. But if its anywhere close to the auto industry taking in used inventory is a gamble and can cost them hard money when taking in trades. I sometimes think some of the crazy low numbers they offer for trades is a way to discourage a person from trading. from the looks of things I am beginning to think that the manufacturers are using retail dealers as their country wide storage lots. There are surely a lot of 2023 dated campers sitting around, unsold.

Of course on the other hand its a way to gamble on moving the used unit off the lot at a huge discount at a more realistic numbers if a consumer balks at the stupid prices and price structure that we see from the disconnect of the artificial MSRP pricing that people gets caught up on when thinking they are getting large amounts of money when the dealers play the numbers game.

I told one sales manager this past week that they think we are really stupid when they stated to our faces that the new unit is actually worth 67 thousand dollars , according to Jayco, but that they would sell it too us at a huge discount of 39 K.

I laughed and said, sure, Jayco is taking a 27 grand plus loss when the unit left the plant and they are giving it away at a loss from what they actually paid for it because they liked me. LOL, The true value for that TT has to be pretty low and an insult and a turnoff to any experienced owner that's owned just one unit and have been around the block for a couple of years and paying attention to the trends and pricing.

They also valued my camper, which is fully functional , at least for today anyway, [never know you know when you leave the driveway, my disclaimer to satisfy the truth and lending fake laws for rvs]LOL at less than what I could have parted out the unit and sold the parts in the used market for replacement to people dealing with broken stuff.

Wasn't that bad -

$42,500 on the trade

$187K MRSP, discounted 23% to $144K + 10K in Fee's & Sales Tax it came right to $119K + my NP.

Ouch.........

I don't care how nice the Brinkley is, I still need money to camp

Went into our closest (best) RV dealer a month or so ago. I was looking at a new 2024 Winnebago Voyage 4 season trailer.

He would only go 80% of wholesale for my camper on a trade. I will be keeping the Jayco.

Why buy a high-end, over-priced Brinkley when you can purchase a Jayco Pinnacle, Keystone Montana, etc. at a much lower price?

We were at two camping shows. A very big Camping World only show, best price they would give us on a new 5ver was 18% off MSRP, I told them to pound sand.

The independent Dealer Show, the show price was 32% off MSRP, list price, never talked to them about a deal.

We just traded our 2017 317RLOK for a 2024 NP 377RLBH and yeah while the amount they offered for the trade was low IMO they did have the new one marked down almost 45% off MSRP.

As long as people continue to pay these ridiculous prices little will change. Interest rates are still stupid and people are still financing $100k plus units at 7 and 8 percent.

I love the Brinkley RVs but I canít support that price tag.

I donít care what I would replace with.

No chance I am selling my 2021 NP 377 for $42,500.

No Chance, way too nice of a camper to give away.
