I don’t think local governments understand that closing everything doesn’t necessarily keep people from spreading the virus, because they will gather somewhere else.
If they minimize activity people will not get injured. The system is already overwhelmed. If you have to go to a facility because of injury you are exposed and you may not be able to get help. Worth be a little cautious.

Then there is the issue of storage. My biggest problem when we went “full time” was losing all my pantry, and deep freezer space I used for surplus food. Now you’ve got people in campers with no contingency plan, very little food storage room for long term, and if they were camp hosting or travel working for money they have no income.
Very, very valid concerns. And, I must admit, things that I've never considered before.

A couple that used to live about a half mile from me recently sold their house to full time. He already had some heart issues and had some difficulty getting around. They have an extremely large rig that they pull with a F650 toter. They would certainly fall in the the category that you were describing. I have lost track of them since they moved but now I am concerned for them.

Be a good time for some “Boondockers Welcome” hosts to step up. I don’t have the infrastructure to be much help but I would if I had the opportunity. I too worry for those with no where to just have a place to park, plug in, and feel safe.

Now we've had 2 Casinos cancel rv reservations.on us-one in Vicksburg Mississippi, and one in Bay St. Louis Mississippi, on the beach. We still have two state parks that appear to be still open next month- One in Mississippi, and one in Louisiana. We haven't had any private parks cancel on us yet. So out of 11 reservations in the next month or so, 9 are still good.

That’s been going on for the last few years. With the RV boom there has been year waiting lists to get into certain parks. I know the state parks in Florida book out 6 months in advance sometimes let alone places like Yellowstone type parks. That’s why I went with a boondocking setup. I was so frustrated by parks being always booked and people making reservations and being willing to eat the cancellation fine if they changed their minds. Several times we were told a park was booked full, lucked out and got a spot when someone cancelled, then showed up and a dozen spots were empty all week. When asked the Rangers said people often book sites way in advance and eat the money when they change their minds or plans. This in my mind is “site hoarding”

A little off topic but I agree with comments about "site hoarders". I see it all the time in Illinois State Parks, many empty sites in a "full" park. It would be nice if they would cancel their reservation so that last minute campers could get in.
There should more of a penalty for not showing up for a reservation. One idea would be that the no show person be denied any reservation for a month. A second no show, 2 months. Third 6 months, etc. Keep track for a rolling five year period. With reservations now computerized it shouldn't be too difficult to implement.
Unfortunately, the low life's that routinely do this would probably figure a way around any new procedures.

Some of the CG's we go to in Oregon have a time limit. If you don't occupy by 12:00 PM on the next day then you lose your site.
I don't think many people know that as we see some sites sitting empty and new campers driving through and leaving.
And the sites are nice sites.

Camp Ground in California

All Regional Parks with RV camping have been closed in California. Some RV Resorts along the beach area have been turned into temporary shelter for the homeless and possible hospitals according to the news.

Washington State Closes all State Park Campgrounds

Over this past weekend, Washington closed all State Park campgrounds until April 30th, 2020. According to their website, those folks having campsite reservations will be contacted and offered full refunds. Perhaps related to this closure, a WA. State Park campground host had tested positive for Covid-19 and was being quarantined in his RV and the park facilities were being deep cleaned. This campground closure comes as a big disappointment for those of us here in Washington who have been pretty much closed-in and staying at home for several weeks. Group activities and interpretive tours at the parks had already been suspended and individual families getting out into the wide open spaces in the woods - still met the restrictions regarding social distancing -until now.
My impression is that the camp host incident unsettled the policy makers. Oh well... Stay safe!

Ontario has shut down the Provincial Parks till end of April. To bad, the best place to be thru all this is outdoors, and most Provincial Parks give u plenty of space between you and your neighbour.

3/24 UPDATE: Just got an E-mail from Michigan DNR. All Michigan State Park & Recreation Area Campgrounds are now closed until April 13, 2020. The parks themselves will remain open, but the campgrounds and all related facilities are closed.

Just got my notice from Missouri State Parks.

Quote:
Out of an abundance of caution and in reaction to the presence of COVID-19 in Missouri, Missouri State Parks will temporarily close all campgrounds and lodging, effective Friday, March 27, through Thursday, April 30. This includes campgrounds, park-run lodging and concessionaire-run lodging. Missouri State Parks will remain open to the public, including day-use areas, boat ramps and trails.
