If you plan to visit Rhode Island - think again

"Rhode Island plans to send the National Guard out to knock door-to-door in an attempt to hunt down anyone who has arrived in the tiny state from New York City during the coronavirus pandemic. State police, meanwhile, have begun pulling over cars with New York state plates.

Gov. Gina Raimondo said anyone traveling there from New York will be ordered to undergo a 14-day quarantine and could face fines or even jail time if they’re found to not comply."

That's stupid. There is no logical assumption that locals are less likely to be infected.

I believe the assumption is, you won't travel into the area bringing the virus with you. This was Estes Park's argument, also. Also, probably stretching already thin local resources thinner.

This is supposedly what happened on a small section of beach in Florida when everyone left.

Getting pulled over in other states with NY plates is just a fact of life for us...

Yes, New York State Campgrounds cancelled all reservations for April with full refund and will not allow any new reservations for the 2020 season.

Those with reservations may cancel for a full refund or wait to see if they will reopen...they are deciding daily whether to reopen or not.

Pennsylvania has closed their campgrounds for April with full refund but are still taking reservations, and Connecticut was going to follow suit, though I haven’t heard yet....

Yep... Locals are calculated into the risk... What comes from those in highly infected locations are unknown. They are just following the Directive of "Stay Safe - Stay Home" and that directive allows locals to visit the local State Park as that is within the Stay Home definition.

Our local KOA is still open, but adhering to the CA rules and closing all social activities, bar, store etc. So anybody in SoCal looking to get away for a bit, the Vail Lake Koa is open and it’s a big campground, little under 500 sites. If you want to hike or ride a bike your good. I would call first and not trust the web reservations. Things are changing daily and their website is hooked into the National one, so not sure I trust it.

Be Safe,Careful,Smart and Enjoy!!

I heard since they can't do the beaches they are now having virus parties. Especially up in New Jersey. I think it was about 50 people all jammed into this one house. Police fined the dude who organized it but still goes without saying. We are creatures of habit. We just cannot give up our creature comforts. I was told here in Michigan you could get pulled over for towing your camper. This came from Camping World as I dropped off my camper to get a few things fixed. My mother is in her final stage of cancer and if we can get off one more weekend in July not now, would do her a world of good. Rebooting 2020 because this one has a virus.

OK I need to let people know this. But our founding fathers had hind site into the 4th amendment. The right to search and seizure. And I need to let everyone know that this gov cannot enforce this unless martial law has been enacted by either Donald J Trump himself or the state is under martial law. So if anyone does knock on your door asking this? With a gun and looking military? Ask them if the state or the US of A is under martial law. If not then they cannot ask this nor can they be on your property unless they have a warrant from a an established court of law system. So folks, this gov is out of line this is illegal. Now if ICE shows up that is a different story. I cannot believe this official would do this. Wow. How illegal is this one. I would be letting that person don't go there unless you have a warrant to enforceable enter and ask. Good luck with that one.

Legally, you may be correct - I'm sure a lot of attorneys are going to make a lot of money out of that question, for years.

Ethically, however... well, it's my life that's on the line, so I'm a little biased,

List of closures

I haven't read through all 274 posts to see if someone has already posted this, but here is a good list of closures that is updated daily:

Indiana state run campgrounds are open. All normal operating facilities such as nature centers, playgrounds. cabins, lodges, pools, etc are closed but shower/toilet facilities are open. I'm not sure I agree with this decision although the DNR sanitizes twice daily as so I'm told. All it would take is one CV-19 case and the whole shabang will be closed statewide. I don't use campground restrooms/showers, I do all that in my RV.

Not to sound callous but I really do not care about anyone right now. I am looking at epic failure on all sides right now and after 14 years I am finding I am being laid off and now the Dept of Education is saying to protect children they may not have school for a year to protect them from this virus. Which means a total lay off of all teachers across the country. Yes children will go on line but only a number of teachers will be hired for on line. So welcome to socialism and the fall of the United States of America. China won. So you know what I just don't care anymore. All I care about right now is thinking about getting out of this country before it collapses. BTW nice camper did not think a jeep grand could tow something like that. IMO

Settle down! Have a beer or your favorite adult beverage. We live in the greatest country on the planet. We will get through this and be better for it! Count your blessings!

Fear itself is a virus. It would be helpful to just report campground closings. Everyone is afraid of the unknown future but no one has a crystal ball.

It's here. It'll get worse.

And on a side note, boon docking? Where do plan to get your gas? Where do you plan to dump?

The safest place for EVERYONE is HOME. That's where your support groups, doctors etc. are.

ASSUME YOU ARE SICK and ACT ACCORDINGLY.
All non essential travel is to be avoided.. Stay at home means just that, Stay at home. Until everyone gets that through their heads this thing will just spiral out of control. We have people as young as 29 with no health problems dying in Georgia so it is not just an old folks problem. You cannot possibly know if you are trucking this disease all over the place unless you have been tested. My niece is an airline stewardess and has come down with it. That is the big way this stuff got spread with airlines delivering it from all over the world. Need to shut all these airlines down for at least two months!

Take a deep breath and be patient. This will pass and we can’t just let it run it’s course. We Americans have weathered much in our history and we will plow thru this and be better for it.
