Awesome, cannot wait to get it. Kind of hush/hush the way it is being distributed in Texas. Wish it would come to CVS, where we get all of our other vaccines. High risk for age and conditions, was hoping to get it soon.

Thanks for doing this Grumpy!

I'm 64, no comorbidities (that I know of) and haven't had an allergic reaction to a vaccine before.

I'm likely Phase III - but I'll roll up my sleeve too.
It's the fastest way to get things back to normal!

I’m in a much smaller town in Texas than Spring and my Doctor phoned all his patients over 65 to administer the vaccine last week.

It sounds like it will have legal standing.

My wife, as a CNA is *required* to get a flu vaccination every year as part of her employment. My kids were required to be immunized to attend school.

For some percentage of the population this is new news. I get that.

It's old news for others.

I’m in Harris County and we are tied to the City of Houston, so it’s a big problem here with the small number of doses that has been distributed.

Are they testing for Covid before giving the vaccine?

Not in FL, at least where we live. They just ask if you have been tested or have symptoms.

Here in PA, my wife and I are listed as group 1B due to our occupation. I'm hoping to have the vaccine within the next 2 weeks.

New for some or not, it's no less tyrannical. If the vaccine works, why should anyone else care who does or does not get the shot. Yet mandates are being discussed like it's a great idea.

Our county health department is scheduling the Moderna shots starting Monday and we got scheduled for Monday afternoon. As far as we know there was no information on availability anywhere we could find. A friend happened to call and ask when the vaccination for us Medicare types would start. He was told they were starting Monday and he got a time. He called a few friends, including us, who called a few friends and by later in the day the all of their allocation was gone. Doesn't sound like much of a plan but we got in so can't complain too much.

Wow, I'm very impressed how many of you on this forum already got the shot!

In Canada we are SLOW SLOW SLOW. Only 22,500 people in Ontario have received it so far, out of 14.5 million people. At our rate, it's going to take us 10 years to get vaccinated. I hope our organizers take a look at how the USA is handling the rollout.

And YES, I will get the vaccine. We were in Florida in March 2020 when the world fell apart and when we got home (we didn't rush home...who wants to rush home to snow anyway), we've been closed out of the USA ever since.

One year of travelling in Canada was fine, but I want to get back into the USA.

Just quoting you because I was talking to the DW about your post...she owns a travel agency. She & I got to talking (& we’ve been drinking)...she thinks that countries, the cruise ind, and travel companies will probably require proof of the vaccine before traveling. No vaccine card, no travel. Just us speculating & drinking. Talk amongst yourselves! Happy New Year everyone...surely it can’t be any worse than the last!

I wouldn't characterize public health actions as "Tyrannical" yet some do.

I doubt that the mandate will force you to get vaccinated. I seriously doubt that. At least at the federal level. I think some states might say they have that right. We'll see.

Any declaration will likely take the form of "you can't enter this restaurant" or "you cannot work for us."

In the end - the choice will always be yours: don't eat there, find an employer with a belief system that aligns with yours, move to a new state, etc.

I'd also suggest you might want to do a little more reading on exactly how vaccines work - in populations. Sounds like you're a smidge confused on that. Or talk to your Doctor. That's probably the best approach.
