CDC now says coronavirus 'does not spread easily' via contaminated surfaces.

For those of you still wiping down groceries and other packages amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, breathe a sigh of relief: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now says the novel virus “does not spread easily” from "from touching surfaces or objects" — but experts warn that doesn’t mean it’s no longer necessary to take "practical and realistic" precautions in stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Worked preparing food for critically ill patients while in the Army. One can never be too careful. If you are in a high risk group, use your own judgement. If its slick, or was chilled, we wipe it. We know 4 people who have died, I'll continue to take my time. Most of us, at our age, need to be careful.

The virus lives longer on hard surfaces than porous surfaces, but it really doesn't matter. This virus can't jump or crawl, so the only way it get's into you is if you inhale it, touch your nose, mouth, eye, or other mucous membrane, or get it into a break in your skin. Wiping things down is a good idea, but it's un-needed work as long as you strictly enforce the basics on yourself. It does ride the water vapor you exhale, so avoid people without masks and do the social distancing. I'm not saying it's easy. I keep forgeting my mask in the car, but I go back and get it. I have a medical grade mask and it gets hot. The whole things a PIA, but then I remember how much my handicapped daughter needs me and I wear it.

As I told my wife weeks ago, we give the virus to ourselves by not washing our hands, not social distancing, or not staying away from those without masks. There are things we miss doing, but until things improve we'll do without.

Assault? Hardly.

I don't deny the disease at all. I know it's there. But the news has made it sound like we are all dying from it.

My wife is a nurse in healthcare.

Exactly... if you listen to the MSM, they'll want you to believe the Covid is the plague, bird flu, Spanish flu, AIDS, SARS, MERS, Polio, etc.. all wrapped into one..

Even the CDC and Fauci keep contradicting themselves, and got it wrong.

I worked in healthcare, and I have studied all the data on Covid... a lot... my wife is a RN and worked in clinical drug research.

The point is, 7,700 people die EVERY DAY in this country. Do you hear the MSM reporting about THOSE deaths 24/7?

Heck, 650,000 people die every year from cardio-vascular disease alone, when was the last time you saw the MSM concerned about them? Are people ordered to lock themselves in their houses, away from double cheeseburgers and super sized cokes?

Not to diminish the people who have suffered from Covid, but destroying the economy, businesses, lives, jobs, relationships, education, etc. because of a bad flu, is totally nuts.

We all have choices to make in our lives, we can live in fear or we can live our lives. Personally, I choose the second one.

Just remember : you exercising your freedoms and getting the virus and not feeling well and continuing on as usual can mean someone susceptible has their freedom called life taken away. For every one infected

I have not cowered once since March but I live in a rural area and yes we are afraid of throngs of tourists. We have had 102 deaths and about 2800 cases. We have just over a million people and usually get about 35 million visitors.
Those numbers wont happen this year with the suspension of cruises and the non existence of festivals and reduction in campground capacity and hotel capacity.

CV is about three times as infectious as the flu and people are contagious before they show any symptoms. Therein lies the bug

We owe it to our elders to be careful out there. It could have been deadlier and it still may be cause we are all tired of being virused over the head on the evening news.

And for me to live my life I value respecting others and being considerate. On my last day I would like to think I helped others rather than transmitted a virus. I'll still wear a seat belt, not blast through red lights, hold open doors, try to eat right, get a little exercise, help my neighbor no matter where I am. I'll even save a little money for a rainy day and make long term plans. Because while tomorrow may be my last day, odds are it isn't.

I think this pandemic showed me that some people really can't think past themselves and that makes me sad for America's future.

The reason the CDC and other specialist sources, are accused of "contradicting each other", is that new information emerges every day.

This is called a "Novel" virus for a good reason. It's new, there's very little data, from which to make informed decisions. It's in the very nature of research that studies may conflict, and the reasons for those conflicts have to be researched in turn.

People in white coats don't suddenly appear from the back room with a complete understanding of, what is, after all, a wholly new organism. That only happens in movies.

Add in the complication that single-strand RNA viruses can mutate any time the wind changes, and you get a glimpse of the monstrous task the researchers face.

Then you get "selective reporting" from media outlets who may just pick up on one or two published findings, often to support their own particular agenda.

People like the CDC are being scapegoated for doing their best to keep the world informed on the latest findings. Those may change, as research progresses.

Finally someone who gets it. It started when they demanded we get vaccinated. It continues when they demanded we wear seat belts. And it continues. We're going to die from something, why not die from small pox? Why not die from polio? Why not make a survivable car crash deadly? Work in construction? Take off that hard hat! Electricians? Keep the current flowing. Don't live in fear behind safety items, that's being a coward and an assault on our freedoms as Americans!

Actually until we as a country demonstrate that we have the virus under control the border remains closed.

Canada has a LOT more stringent regs than we do and hence our camping season has been altered dramatically.. The provincial borders of NB NS and NL are closed to all from other provinces moreover.

We live within 11 hours of being on the Ferry to Newfoundland where we love to camp.

11 hours the other way gets us to New Jersey..

We are still camping.. in our home state. I was so hoping to tow the TT across Labrador and jump on the other NL ferry.

We are all touched in some way by this virus that is attacking the world. Things are changing as already noted. Lately we have become jaded almost from information overload and this is no different. We have to be careful what we post here on JOF if these discussions are to remain. We have all been touched in many ways, some have no first hand experience with this and others have been touched very personally and everything in between.
