I found this yesterday. I never tried to post an internet address before so I don't know if this thing will work. According to the article, money will be released for people,(lowest income first) who receive SSI, VA, and Railroad Retirement on May 1. Folks that have an "adjusted gross income" of $10,000 or less on the week of April 24.. Then the next week for people with "AGI" of $10,001 to $20,000
then next week $20,001 to $30,000 and so on.
This was posted by Forbes yesterday. Here is the schedule from the article.
"Taxpayers who have the lowest annual adjusted gross income as reported on their 2018 or 2019 tax return will receive their checks first. Here is the planned weekly schedule (week-ending dates): "
• Less than $10,000: April 24
• $10,001 - $20,000: May 1
• $20,001 - $30,000: May 8
• $30,001 - $40,000: May 15
• $40,001 - $50,000: May 22
• $50,001 - $60,000: May 29
• $60,001 - $70,000: June 5
• $70,001 - $80,000: June 12
• $80,001 - $90,000: June 19
• $90,001 - $100,000: June 26
• $100,001 - $110,000: July 3
• $110,001 - $120,000: July 10
• $120,001 - $130,000: July 17
• $130,001- $140,000: July 24
I think that they are way, way ahead of this schedule, at least with direct deposits. My daughter and a friend have both received deposits and I'm sure their income was greater than $10K last year.

Don't know where you got that info. We make $75,000.00 and got our checks 4/15. I'm guessing it was alphabetical. Last name starts with E.

I believe that schedule is for mailed paper checks, not direct deposits.

I suppose it could be, but both our daughters got their direct deposits last week. One with last name that starts with T and one with a C. Both had filed 2019 returns with direct deposit details. Still waiting for ours, but then again we had to provide the direct deposit info because we owed like $10 for the 2019 tax year so they only had withdrawal details on file.

I saw that same schedule on a Yahoo News site a week ago.
IF IF, it is true, then I'd also say it's regarding the paper mailed checks, not direct deposit.

To: seventyGTx, how do you know your check is supposed to be mailed today?
Where did you find that info?
I went to the IRS site to put in my bank info cuz I owed Federal this year and now we are just waiting...waiting. Actually want to use it to pay my Federal taxes - that's a bit of irony, but oh well.

I was finally able to get past the "We don't have enough information" page today, and able to enter the direct deposit information, even though they already have it, when they direct deposit my S.S. checks each month....

Gotta love the efficiency of the ones in charge...

Since we don't owe or get a refund, they don't have our banking info so ours will be mailed. My wife got on the IRS website to check on the status. She had to put in her birth date, social, etc...

After several days and attempts I too was able to get past that roadblock and enter my bank info today. I guess some glitch got resolved.

The addition to the deficit is bothersome to me.. much of the stimulus given to those unaffected by this.. payments to SS recipients alone is about $73B if my calculations are correct.. same for folks who get welfare or pension checks..they should cross check it against unemployment.
Mouse nuts in the big picture I know but not really necessary non the less..Our kids and grandchildren are going to be screwed for years to come.

SSA payments aren't always made to the recipient. My BIL was disabled from birth and when my FIL passed away at 53 he was able to collect SSI. When my MIL passed away, we had to put my BIL in a personal care home and his SSI payment went to the agency providing is care. He was allowed to keep $20 of the amount for his personal expenses.

Sometimes, there are reasons as to why things aren't as simple as they appear to be "on paper".

I'm sure we can all dig around to find special situations, but this does pertain the the vast majority who get direct SS checks attached to their own SS numbers, specially since they can directly cross reference to a tax return.

It looks like the government is now asking for a return of stimulus checks sent to the deceased:

Because the system used to administer it, is about 40 years old, and they had to pull COBOL programmers out of retirement, to make it happen at all.
Can you imagine how long it would have taken, if they heard tried to filter it against the SS systems, etc.
(It caused enough problems, munging the data with the immigration database)

If you really don't want to keep it, make a donation to your local hospital, buy some food for your fire or police department, drop a buck in the bucket for the Red Cross...

I'm still waiting for mine, but, if/when it arrives, I will be spending it at local small businesses, to help them stay afloat. That's my understanding of "economic stimulus"

How do you feel about the unemployed getting an additional $600/week on top of their regular UE check? For some, they are getting between 2x or 3x MORE then what they were making when they were working.

The extra 600 plus the max/wk is about $40/wk more for my wife that is out of work because of this.
Because I'm considered an "essential" worker I pay out more in taxes, healthcare, and contribution to my 401 than what my wife is getting on unemployment. So if I had to collect, it would hurt.
I do agree with you that those people should not be able to collect more than what they would normally get, my wife included.
Furthermore, it should be done on a lottery drawing system, if you are collecting and there are local businesses that need help, draw a number from the pool and send them people to work. If that employer doesnt pay as much as you were normally making, that's where unemployment should kick in the difference.
Btw, we are still waiting on our stimulus money. There was some kind of snafu with ours according to the IRS site. With my luck by the time we get it most will be back to work. Lol!

fortunate enough to say we didn't need it.
so it went right back out, hopefully to those who do.

the idea was to spend it, get it into circulation.

A big shout out to my 6 and 8 year old grandkid’s future kids for providing the funding for the stimulus.

We received a debit card in the mail yesterday. My wife thought it was a scam and almost threw it out but that’s how we received the funds. We are retired and are very fortunate that we have not been negatively impacted financially at all but our government felt we should still receive a stimulus. I believe this money should have only gone to people who lost income and who were adversely affected.

Our’s will be going to the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, St. Judes Children’s hospital and a local food bank. It is my hope that the large successful corporations that received stimulus money will do the same with the money they received. Let’s all hold our breath now. Lol
