17 Seneca Exterior Light Gremlins

On our last trip I discovered light issues with our toad. Prior to this they have worked as advertised.

Trouble shooting today I have found the following issues. I’m using a test light. I did trouble shooting with the engine off and running. Coach is plugged into shore power.

1. Marker lights working on coach but not trailer connector
2. Left turn signal not working on coach or trailer connector.
3. Left emergency flasher not working on coach or trailer connector. Right is working on both.

Finally found fuses under driver seat. All suspected fuses test good. I’m unable to test relays.

Grounds that I can see appear good.

Still in warranty, but unsure if this is a Jayco or Freightliner issue.

Have any of you had similar issues? Any suggestions?

I would test next:

Test light from ground to both fuse terminals behind the drivers seat. Are you getting power to the fuses that are between the power relay and the trailer connector. or is the relay working?

Be sure to include Marker and tail lamps. You can swap relays from one socket to another.

I’m powered at the fuse terminals. I swapped relays between left and right turn signals. No change in condition, so it’s not the relays. I can feel the relays operating too.
The 17 has 2 fuse blocks under the seat plus a block that has two I think 150 amp links.
I’m stumped ��

I'm attaching the diagram that our FL uses... Focus on Page 24 for the body builder Power Distribution Module... It is the same as our 15 Seneca.

Page 28 covers the combination stop/turn configuration as our seneca is built that way (ignore page 27)

Hi Chuck I also have a 2017 Seneca. Prior to my taking delivery when new the dealer discovered none of the lights on the back of the coach worked. The dealer sent it to Freightlinner which sent it back to the dealer saying this was a Jayco issue. So that answer one of your questions. Our problem as I was told was some of the wires under the drivers seat had shorted out on a metal edge and once they were taped problem went away. Hope this helped.

I found two blown fuses, one in each fuse block under drivers seat. They visually passed, but failed with a multimeter test. Root cause was a bad socket on the toad. R&R socket and fuses, problem solved.

Interesting that you have encountered the same... We had a tire blowout on our trailer that took out the wiring to the clearance light (tail light circuit) that blew the fuse on that circuit in the block behind the drivers seat. After repairing the wiring on the trailer... I went to test the trailer lights and started the search.

I had identified the correct fuse and pulled it, visually inspected it and it showed no signs of being blown. It seems that the fuses they ship, do not give any visual clues to being blown - you have to take a meter to the fuse to test it.
