1st Service done

I went to Excel Truck Group in Chester VA for my 1st annual service. They are a Freightliner Oasis center. First come first served and they open at 0700 daily. I was there at 0700 and out by 1100. Rik was my service manager. I had called the week ahead to make sure that had all required parts/filters (they did not). They have a really nice Drivers Lounge with recliners, big screen, and keurig coffee.

They did all the checks that were in the Freightliner service manual (IM, M1,M2 thru 16,000 miles) though I only have 5911miles. I did not have them do the generator as I did that myself already.

Anyway, I know that most of you do your own labor and were I not moving out of the house this month to hit the road full-time time I'd have done the same, but I found them to be professional and thorough. Total cost was $579, with $240 of that being labor. Oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filters, lube, and a bunch of items checked. I do know they checked them because they found the same things I already knew: wipers need replacing, conventional horn doesn't work, though air horn does.

My brakes are at 95%, which I'm happy with and hopefully helped by me leaving the exhaust brake on most of the time.

So if you're passing thru the Richmond area and you need service, I'll have to say I would use them again.

It's nice to read a positive story.

We lived about 2 miles from there so I used them a few times and they are good. I will caution you that if the rig has to go in their RV lot overnight it might get goofed around with. Small practical joke type stuff like stuff moving from cabinet to cabinet etc…

Trying to find the same caliber service center around Myrtle Beach now.
