2008 Seneca 35gs not charging battery from generator
Ok I have tried it’s while since I never could get it to work correctly. Theresa mode for the generator to come on when the battery drops below a certain level well the generator would come on but not charge the batteries so it could shut off. The batteries never charge using the generator in the auto mode.
Do your batteries charge on shore power? Are you getting power to all your appliances when the geny runs? The generator just supplies power to the converter which in turn charges the battery, the geny doesn't do it by itself.
First thing to diagnose is to connect it to shore power and see if THAT charges your batteries. If shore power and generator power both do not charge the batteries, then you have a converter problem. Check the fuses and make sure none are blown. Then remove the converter and look for any damaged capacitors and such - one of my capacitors was literally disintegrated and the converter had to be replaced.
