2017 37TS exhaust brake, jake brake or what ever

Had DW following me today and was told my brake lights are not working all the time. Turns out, they work when the pedal is pushed but not when the exhaust brake activates. Is this a simple fix or do I need to go to Freightliner??
TIA

Cannot say for sure on a freightliner but on Peterbilts there is a setting in the cab controller that has to be enabled for the brake lights with engine braking to come on.

As far as I know it would be a Freightliner issue. I know it is programmable, some coach builders set the lights to come on and some don’t. I know on our 2018.5 the brake lights do come on when the exhaust brakes activate. My son was following me on one trip and when we got to camp he told me I really shouldn’t ride the brakes like that all the way down a hill

Not sure I want mine to come on with the exhaust brake. Since my TOAD has an InvisiBrake installed the brake lights coming on activates the INV Brake system.

I would need to do some serious research first.

I agree! Some electric brake controllers rely on the brake light power status in the logic they use for the trailer brakes.
