2017 Seneca 37TS house battery question

I need to clean and paint my battery tray. Can I remove all the house batteries and still have the rig connected to shore power?

You can turn off the breaker for the converter and that should stop any power to the batteries. You also have to isolate the power coming from your chassis batteries to be sure that all the 12 volt wiring is not energized. You can pull the wire from the isolation module to you batteries off the isolation module. You then can test the system to be sure all sources of power are off. I would still probably disconnect my shore power. The only reason for power is the refrigerator and that should last quite awhile unless you are in hot location.

Good question... I don't know the answer because when I swapped my batteries and modified our battery tray - I shut everything down and disconnected the chassis battery cable too. The paint took overnight to dry and I put the new batteries in after the paint was not tacky to the touch.

Thanks for the info. I think I will disconnect the shore power just to be safe.

SloPoke What paint did you use?

I only use one brand of spray paint: Rust Oleum Stops Rust.

After grinding down the parts that limited the larger batteries, I wiped it down with Lacquer Thinner and shot the interior after protecting the rest of the Seneca from over-spray.

Normally I would have use the same paint with a brush on application, but that would have taken another day to dry as I seem to lay it down real thick with a brush.

OK, got the tray out, cleaned up and painted. I have one more question...what kind of straps and buckles do you use for hold downs. Mine are nylon straps with plastic clips that are always breaking and need to find something better. Not too sure if this is what was used originally as I purchased the unit used.

I just grabbed some old used Cam-Lock straps that I had laying around. Cut the hooks off and looped in a circle thru the tabs on the slide-out.
