2017 Seneca 37TS Microwave Vent
I just realized the exterior microwave vent has a snap close cover. Mine apparently has been open all the time. How do you reach the vent to close and /or open it when travelling or when micro is in use. I don't carry a ladder that will reach that high??

Before I invested in my telescoping ladder I did latch and unlatch mine several times by dragging the site's picnic table over and standing on my two-step stool on top of the table. It is way up there!
Most trips I just leave it open.

For our two previous motorhomes we always just used the awning rod, but with an electric awning on our Jayco we have no other real use for one but we do carry a ladder now.

I just leave mine unlatched. It causes no problems. Occasionally, I get a noise from it trying to flutter if it is real windy and I am on the road, but otherwise nothing - no worries.

Interesting, I never had a microwave that was vented not vented back into the rig inside. In every tt and fifth wheel I ever had the vent was for the range hood not the microwave.
It still flutters when the wind blows though unless latched!

I leave ours unlatched as well. I’m not gong to pull out my ladder each time we cook. On very windy days it may flap but not too bad.

I leave ours closed/latched unless we are going to use the built in range hood fan (vent is not for microwave)

Mine was high enough I need to get on a step, sometimes I used the picnic table to reach it that is why I went to the magnets, keeps stink bugs out of vent too this time a year they are looking for a winter home

We leave ours unlatched.. it is a giant PITA to get up there and latch it! But Che57vy has an interesting idea -
We don't want to have to unlatch this POS every time we choose to use it, but we work in our Seneca and listening to that darn thing flap/bang/flap in the New Mexico wind is very annoying after 6-7 hours of that racket. If the magnets are at the right strength to keep it latched in the annoying wind - that is a great idea!!!

Never latch ours and don't really know if we have that option. It does flutter, if the winds are right.

If yours looks like this, the two "tabs" are the latches. If you do latch it, you'll swear you are going to break them off when you do unlatch it for use. But I do close mine for storage, havent broken it yet!

I have a long rod I use to reach the latch on my vent.
My microwave does vent outside when it runs. The exhaust fan runs with hood exhaust and also when micro runs.
