2018.5 and up Allison 3000 information videos

Here are some Allison training video that are helpful. Many new owner dont realize that there are 2 transmission programs, the default is Eco and the secondary or "mode" is Performance. This video explains how to use them. Personally I always run in Performance Mode.

The second video shows you how to check the transmission fluid level from the cab push button panel.

This video shows you how to run the transmission Diagnostics.

This video shows the transmission Prognostic, fluid/filter life.

Really appreciate these. I drove my Accolade 523 miles home from the dealer towing my Gladiator. I did okay by leaving it alone mostly, but see some things I can do to make the experience that much better.

I shift into "Mode" at startup on every drive, towing or not. I have tried both programs and have seen no difference in fuel economy. I Eco mode the thing just feels like a slug to me. My Freightliner service center said "Mode" is a lot better program for engine and transmission longevity.

That's really good to know. I'll try that.
Also, do you use manual downshifting, as well as the engine brake, when going down the steeper grades? My drive home was not too bad as far as hills go, but I was hoping to have it figured out for when I do. Don't want to use the brakes very much, of course.

I have only manually downshifted a few times. If I know I have a steep downhill coming, I’ll just slow down early and with the engine brake on, it will downshift when the brakes are tapped.

Okay, that's what I did and it seemed fine. Just new to this engine/transmission combo.

While I got your ear, did this transmission come with the synthetic (295?) fluid or the dino fluid? My manual speaks of both and I don't know how to tell the difference

My dipstick on my 2014 (2500MH trans) had a tag listing the initial fill as the TES 295 synthetic fluid. Check and see if your diptick has a similar tag.

Like Robert said, check your dipstick for the tag. My 2018.5 came with the TES295 and I’m guessing yours will be the same.

I know this thread is very old but does anyone know if these videos are still available? When I try to watch them it tells me they are private and I don’t have access.

Here is a link to Allison’s YouTube channel. Once there, look under Videos and you will see that they added two updated videos 8 days ago. I hope this helps.
