2018 Seneca Brake Controller

So I finally got into installing the brake controller on my 2018 Seneca. After reading other post I looked for the wires and they were behind the dashboard. They were right behind the window buttons and lock/unlock buttons. Hooked up the wiring harness that came with the brake controller. Mounted under the cup holder for now. If I end up getting the center counsel I'll move it to above the gas pedal.

2014 seneca found these wires when new and Jayco said not theirs must be Freightliners. Freightliner said not theirs. I never did install brk controller as I haven't pulled trailer, F150 has separate controller.

HOLY COW...I have been looking for those for weeks! I was going to have CW (yikes) install this for me next week. If my wires are in the same place, you may have just saved me $350! I will check tonight!

Very possible Mor-Ryde did it as part of the frame modification. Since they do more than just JAYCO it may just be their standard practice.

It more likely saved your more.... maybe your life... this way you have an installation that YOU can trust to be done right. You don't want to lose your trailer brakes to someone that you have little trust to do right???

Every time I go there to have work done... it is NOT done right, not done completely - or not done at all.

No.. don't think that I am bashing CW... I have found other places to do my work/repairs/maintenance that are more reliable and trustworthy. The cost is not important - the peace of mind knowing that it was done right IS!

Ok, I found the wires! Can you help me with matching the colors up correctly so I dont accidently kill something. Do all the colors just line up one to one except the black (controller side) which I guess would go to the other odd ball color (red/white) on the RV side?

I would make sure you have a volt meter to double check all the wiring is correct on your chassis. This is how mine was done.

White - Ground
Red - 12V Constant Power
Red/White - Brake Signal
Blue(2) - Brake Controller Output

Note: I don't know why they give you two blue wires for the brake output. I traced them all the way back to the hitch and they are spliced together back there. Maybe someone else would have an answer for that. I just connected them both to my brake controller.

Thank you, Thank you for this find. Just letting you know that I was able to get mine wired up as well. I would have had a problem finding that bundle if it was not for you.

I can't find the brake control wires on mine....
I don't see any wires like are shown here.
All my wires are tight and in a loom, no loose cut wires that I can find so far.

Question. Does it have to be a specific brake controller because of the air brakes? I currently have a Tekonsha Prodigy on my current motorhome with hydraulic brakes. Can I just use that one?

That one should be fine. All the controller gets for input is if the brake pedal is depressed or not. Its only on or off, not how much pressure on the pedal. It uses an internal accelerometer to determine how much brake force gets applied to the trailer. Some built in controllers like those in the Ford trucks, just do it based off how much the pedal moves, but the stand alones do it by decceleration sensors and then just turn the output to the trailer on if the brake pedal (brake lights) are activated.

Does anyone know where the solid red wire is fused? A previous owner used it for a CB radio hot lead. No power now :-(

I installed my controller on my 2018.5 on the new S2RV chassis and I finally found the wires behind the drivers side side kick panel just below the dash. First have to remove a small cover then remove the side panel and there they were!

Brake controller

Thanks to Rustynuts , I think you saved me time and from taking my dash apart. I need to find the wiring for a 2020 Seneca. I assume it’s in the same place as yours. I looked under the dash and the driver side kick panel did look like an obvious place for them.
Now Why did my box of manuals and operating instruction come with a trailer brake pig tail with the packaged labeled “Ford”? I assume they just box up the same for each of their MH’s and the majority being Ford V10’s the pigtail would be correct. (It also came with a air mattress inflator and I don’t have any air mattresses.)
