ahhh thanks for correcting me... I have a bunch of 302's they wont work to replace the 317
Our lamps don't have any heat sink on that... and the housing is plastic (like the old bakelite material)
Using the "what - if" principal if more heat dissipation would extend the life of the regulator chip. or should I buy a bunch of spares and stuff them in one of the motorhome's cabinets in anticipation of another failure - and consider it a sacrificial component of inherently bad design???
I already carry a low W soldering iron with us in the Seneca.
