Another DEF question

There was a recent thread about filling the DEF tank on a Seneca XT, and I didn't want to distract from that flow of information. My DEF tank question is about a different matter.

When I had my Ford SD diesel pick up, I had trouble filling the DEF tank at many truck stops. I had to add a magnet to the DEF nozzle. The magnet looked like this

It's been a while since I had to fill a DEF tank and was wondering of the magnets are still required?

Not many XT owners on this forum. Not sure the answer for the Seneca XT, but for the Freighliner chassis that magnet is not needed. At least for the late year models. I think those are more of a safety measure than anything else. The DEF fill hole is smaller than the diesel nozzle so it would be difficult to accidently place diesel in the DEF tank. You could put DEF in the diesel tank by mistake...

Or, you could pull jetski's behind a diesel truck and then fill them with diesel after filling up the truck... Ask me how I know. LOL

When I had my Ford SD, the DEF was smaller than the diesel fill hole. I was told I needed a magnet because my DEF tank was plastic. The DEF pump nozzle had some type of magnetic sensor that wouldn't operate on a plastic tank.
