May be a silly question but did the rig come with a user's manual or packet of manuals for the equipment? Someone may have the info that you need but the manual is going to come in handy as time goes on and you have more questions.

Both the manual and the brochure from manufacturer show a different set up. They show one rocker switch , three position, enable, off, and test. That is why I ask. 2019 RB

Yiu don’t mention the year of your Seneca bur some 2018.5 and 2019 models had issues with the AGS starting the generator at random times, sometimes in storage even when disabled. Ours did this many times and Magnum ended up sending us a new control module and it hasn’t done it since. Here is a thread about it.

Here is the manual

Basically the switch setup is the same, Enable, Test and then Reset is the Off switch.

I would think that random starting is a bit more than an inconvenience . And that attitude of "you must be crazy, stupid or just wrong" because nobody else has ever had this issue when inquiring of Jayco is unacceptable. As a baseline, showing , in the manuals, or knowing about the operation of the switches as installed, when asked, would seem to be important. Safety, knowing about this issue, both on the part of the manufacturer and now me, and possibly endangering others would seem to be really important. As a way to proceed do you think a battery disconnect switch, in the positive generator starter lead would be sufficient to store the machine safely?

I found early on when we bought our Seneca the Jayco customer service was little or no help on any technical issue. I found that on any component that was installing in our coach, it was much faster and easier to deal with the manufacturer of that component. At the same time our Magnum Inverter panel was randomly beeping, going through Jayco, all I got was a child was pushing a button in the middle of the night (no kids in coach) or I had the wrong settings. I contacted Magnum direct and discussed it with them and after one day of diagnosis, they were sending me a new AGS and Inverter/Control.

We're off your original topic, but in case it helps anyone else - like Rusty, the Jayco manuals are too generic to be of any real use. While I don't condone it, it's apparently common practice across the big manufacturers and has been for a long time.

[ One benefit, apparently, it allows a manufacturer the ability to swap components without incurring the cost of a reprint run. ]

Regardless, I recommend for all new owners to go thru their motorhome, write down the make and model of every appliance, motor, add-on, plug-in etc. The pull the PDFs for the manufacturer's manuals.

I wasn't 100% successful. I couldn't find much about the A/V amp in our coach; our tank sensors seem to be a one-off. But I found 90+% of them.

As for why your generator starts up on its own, maybe pull down a Troubleshooting guide for any other AGS unit you can find and see if the debugging is generic enough to assist?

It took us three trips to different dealers before they found a loose ground wire going to the panel.
Ours now works correctly, although the numbers are little off. I set it for 12.0 volts and it turns on at 12.2 volts.... I can live with that.

Rusty, you say that reset is off. How do you know that. You and one tech I spoke to say that is so. It puzzles me that it is not marked that way. Neither jayco or magnum dimensions will tell me that. They don't even acknowledge this switch set up. I thank you for the help and concern. It seems that reset would be just that..change the parameters and reset the system. Or ,reset system because it is not needed. It most certainly does not turn my system off. I found it running in my shop two days ago. Last thing I did when I left was push reset. Brought it home because I didn't dare leave it inside. It started, in the driveway, a little after 3 am ran for 6 hours until I checked on it. Plugged in, all parameters turned far left, reset pushed. Someone must know why they put that specific panel on the system.

Ours would do it while on batteries, plugged it, it didn't matter and is pretty annoying when it starts at 3am when you are sleeping. All your Parameters are set on the on the module box itself. I was told by the tech I worked with on mine that the the way Jayco has it wired, the "reset" works the same as off as it disables the system, the same as Off on their 3 position switch. Magnum told me that if you want to totally disable the whole system, unplug the green plug on the bottom of the module, this makes it so the module cant do anything.....may be a way to test it to see if it is the module causing it. The person I dealt with at Magnum was Darren Massey, Sr. Product Support Technical Specialist and his direct email was dmassey@sensata.com. You might try emailing him to see what he says. They sent me a new AGS and it hasn't done it since.

2019TS Not sure if this helps, but we ended up just unplugging the telephone looking connection … ours would start & run no matter the parameters we set. We should probably get a replacement unit, but it’s not something we would use, so no real incentive. Best of luck!

We also had the auto gen start starting it seemingly randomly

Spider - we eventually received a new one under warranty. Found a Jayco dealer who was more of a parts replacer so they would easily replace items when I knew they were bad.

Ours consistently would start the generator after unplugging and replugging from shore power. I eventually learned to hit the reset button after each time I would plug back into shore power at home. This took care of the random starts. That said if you really want to fix the random starts until it is completely fixed you can unplug the telephone type cord from the autogenstart unit. Ours is located in the bathroom medicine cabinet.

The replacement unit has not done a random start on me yet… knocking on wood!

Had same issue on first night after brought my 2018.5 FS Seneca home. Parked in my enclosed outbuilding. Next morning carbon monoxide nearly knocked me down.
Finally figured that each time after driving the RV, I hit the reset switch. May contact the manufacturer to see if I can get a replacement.
