Avoiding gravel rash

I am frequently under my coach when away from home checking something, pulling TPMS sensors, etc. Not all sights are paved and none are if you boon dock.

I found this to be quite handy. It's heavy duty, water proof and rolls up and stores easily. A bit pricey but should last a good while. I have had mine for 2 years so far with no tears or holes in it. Just bot another for a friend of mine.

That's a great idea. I have used the fatigue mats below for years. They are light, they do duel duty by protecting my packing areas, and they are easy to clean. At $9.99 they are unbeatable.

... always appreciate useful product information.

I have a gravel driveway and made a gravel pad for our RV, so I understand the title of your post.

I usually don't mind spending money on things I need or OK, "want" but with all the crap my family orders online I usually just save a few larger cardboard boxes and unfold / flatten them back out and throw one in my truck to use for this purpose!

Me too! I keep a large thick piece of cardboard in my storage compartment laying on a ladder that is hanging from the floor above. It's out of the way until I need it and easily replaced when worn or dirty.

Knee pad is cheaper than knee replacement.

I use the Cardboard trick too... A couple of reasons to consider:

Cardboard allows me to slide under the vehicle a lot easier than fabric.
When boondocking and it has oil, grease, diesel on it - It can double as campfire kindling.
We seem to have a neverending supply of it - and it is really cheap!

Knee pads can be handy if you have or don't want bad knees. Most of my time is on my back under there.

I use a mat like this one except the one I have that I purchased years ago at Sam’s Club is 3/4”-1” thick. Park on it in storage.

Years ago my wife picket up a foldable picnic mat that she NEVER used so I confiscated it and it lives in a storage bay. Its nice as its very compact, you can slide on it easily and has enough padding to be comfortable and large. Its vinyl so any grease or oil wipes off.

Mat looks nice - would be great for sleeping bag as well, I'll bet
However, I use cardboard and/or a sheet of heavy reinforced vinyl
Cardboard is padded, slippery enough to slide on, and is easy to find and discard

I use a yoga matt. Easy to role up and I also use it as a dog matt once we are the site. To help with fire ants

6WD Creeper ;-)

My solution isn't as portable, but my trailer is parked on gravel so I made this out of a $80 garden cart from Harbor Freight.

All work

I use cardboard when I'm doing something that might make a mess like changing oil but keep a couple of pieces of foam that came out of old furniture in the trailer for when my old bones need to get under something. They double as padding between things in the basement.
