Cab Floor Heat - Pets

Thank you to all on this thread who have helped. Our two Goldens absolutely hate the RV with one getting motion sick and the other just getting bored after about 1 hour :-).

The motion sick pup (120lb golden) hops in the floor of the passenger side under my wife's feet and seems to do really well. Our other golden lays in-between the seat area however we noticed him getting up quite a bit and felt that it was extremely hot. I assume the transmission area below is generating heat and the floor warms from it.

We bought a cooling pad however that just warms and stays warm.

Any ideas of what you do for your 4 legged friends?

I keep a VERY thick and fluffy round dog bed in between the front seats, keeps my pooches happy. Its about 8 inches thick.

You can also unscrew that black floor plate and add silver reflective insulation to the bottom of it. Can't hurt.

You may try googling “ automotive floor heat shield” then go to videos. You Tube has some great videos on how to eliminate your heat problem. In a nut shell they show you how to add adhesive heat shielding under your carpet and what products are available.

We are lucky that our beagle is content in his bed in the camper part just behind the cab within arms reach, in our class C. We did have to train him (luxury starting from pup) to remain there and not allowed in the cab.

Do understand the anxiety. We had other anxiety issues (separation anxiety) and have found an anti-anxiety chew can be effective. This isnt a long term solution and should not be used as such. But it may be a viable short term aid in attempt to get the Goldens acclimated to being content in an area close by but outside the cab.

We used this for "calming" training. Again, dont believe this should be used other than as a training aid or for periodic anxiety problems.
