Check Engine Light

Hi everyone. It’s been awhile since my last post. But I thought this was worth posting.

My check engine light came on, code SPN: 4364 FMI: 31. The code is related to the DEF.

Here is what I did:
1: Checked the DEF quality (refractometer) OK
2: checked DEF filter. (Replace fleetguard UF101) Every easy to replace.
3: Clean the dosing value. See pic. This value was clogged.

I need to drive to see if the check engine light goes off. I think it will. I think this should be add to your maintenance list.
FYI: 2016 Seneca 42K miles.

Update: Drove 430 miles and the check engine light is now off. Cleaning the dosing value fixed the problem.

Excellent, thanks for letting us know it worked, and the code it set. Others might find that very helpful.

Excellent info. What did you use to clean the dosing valve?

Thanks!

I used a small brass brush and a can of compressed air.

Does anyone carry a spare DEF filter? I carry spare oil, fuel, Fuel/water, and a serpentine belt.
I am trying to find out of the UF101 is the same for the S2RV (2018) chassis. Both FL and Cummins was useless on the phone. Does anyone know?

I don't carry a spare DEF filter, yet. Cummins says, it would be good for 200k miles. I am going to buy a spare. I will replace mine every 2 years.

I think the UF101 would be the same on the S2RV chassis. I would go under an remove the DEF filter and see if it's the same as the picture above.

I don’t think it is the same one as shown on the M2 in the video. I went on to DTNA Connect and looked up parts based on my VIN and it shows that the S2 uses DEF pump #A052Y605 and when I search that part number it comes up like the one in the pic below. I have looked at mine before and remember the longer bowl that the filter would be in, instead of the filter being inserted up into the body like the video showed. Also while searching the DEF pump number it is listed as a Detroit Diesel pump. The S2 started using the Detroit Diesel water/fuel separator so I am guessing that it is using the Detroit Diesel DEF pump which in searching uses the UF106 kit shown in this link. I will be under my 2018.5 S2 working on another project and I will get a pic of mine and look for any part numbers I might be able see.

Not too concerned about the filter at this point. In your pictures it looks like urea residue buildup probably caused by heat being so close to the exhaust. Couple of questions, if you don't mind, before I clean mine:

1. Are any gaskets involved.

2. Can you give me an estimate on the bore size in your picture #4. I would like to order a bore brush before I disassemble.

Thanks!

There is a gasket, I did not replace mine. The bore size is 5/16.See the pictures below. There is one pic. with the bore size, the other two pic's are what it looks like after 800 miles. I was surprised what it looked like.

I use Walmart Def, not sure if this is why it gets corroded so quickly.

What do you use?
Please post your pic's when done, I would like to see what your looks like. (Tell me the miles)

Thanks,
Jim
