Clay Bar on Seneca

Other than the multitude of chips, nicks and imperfections, my Seneca paint has held up pretty well. Lately I have noticed that the hood felt gritty after washing and waxing. It didn’t matter how I tried or what I used, it still had the feeling of grit in the finish.

Today I tried a clay bar and used a instant detailer spray as a lube and WOW, the finish feels like new. I could not believe how well it worked and easy it was.

I love it when things go as I want them to, especially when you consider how rarely they do.

Since discovering how to properly clean my cars with a clay bar a few years ago, I now use one every 3rd or 4th hand wash. I let my truck go while wintering in Texas and finally got a day to do a proper cleanup yesterday. The reminder of how dirty the paint was won’t be forgotten soon.

Our Seneca was the same way and I finally too the time to clay bar and wax the whole coach with Collinite #845....a lot of work but worth it. I ran out of clay so I tried the new Mothers Clay 2.0 and it did just as good of job as clay did, and quite a bit easier than constantly working the clay. Another this is White Diamond polish works great on the wheels!

I use Griots Garage clay and speed shine every time I wax our cars or the Seneca. It’s an extra step but find it gives better results.

On this subject, what is everyone using to keep the Alcoa’s shining?

That is one mighty fine reflection!

White Diamond Polish. This was about 10 minutes of work by hand. Just make sure you put a good Carnauba wax on after and the shine lasts a lot longer.

Yep, about 2/3's up it starts getting bad orange peel and then dry spray.....probably as far as the painter could reach.

About the same as mine. And if the painter couldn’t reach, I certainly can’t either. Lol

I just bought some clay and wax. If any of you are bored and want some free beer you can come up to Vermont and show me how to use these. I am kind of slow so you might have to do the whole rig before I get a clear idea of how to do it.

There is a job in St. Albans for my work. We could park them side by side and wax together! Beer and ladders are a scary combination though.

Just be sure you do the St Albans job in the summer or fall. Winter is cold and long up there.

So far I have just been washing my wheels. Are these clear-coated aluminum or just aluminum?

I have always used the clay bar program on all my cars including the corvette. It works great on travel trailers and motor coaches as well.
Now that Meguires makes a ceramic finish wax it might be better to use that rather than the carnauba as it will last longer. This was the recommendation at a car car seminar I attended in FL this past winter.
Clay bar then ceramic is better protection

Do clay bars help with blacks streaks? The used 2015 we purchased has them on the rear and street side and nothing has worked so far.
