Embark or Seneca Freightliner M2 windshield cover

I was never happy with the inside curtain that came with my Embark, never hung right, did not block much heat so I spent some time looking for a windshield shade or sun shade of some type. Having looked at many options, listed below I went with a custom "Gold" one from Heatshield for a total of $72 shipped to my door with coupon code AUTOWEEK. All the other options were both very expensive and required permanent placement of attachments which either required drilling or having things on the windshield all the time. Heatshield rolls up nice, no hardware and gold version matches the outside paint well and inside is black.

Cleanandcool.com - $349
Looks nice and solid, color options, blocks heat and sun, requires permanent hardware and storage did not seem easy.

Sunpro - $199
Outside and very clean finished look, blocks heat but visible at night, requires permanent hardware

Magne Shade - $425
Outside and beautiful finished look, easy to put up with no ladder, permanent magnets on windwhield inside, so not drilling

I am happy with my Heatshield for the windshield and side windows in my Seneca.

I have the Mage Shade plus I use the inside curtains. The shades will block sun and heat before it gets inside but not visibility so you put them up and leave them up until you move. Shades do not provide total privacy esp at night so you still need the curtains. Happy with choice; only wish I had some artwork on them but I thought I spent enough.

Like you, we live in Las Vegas and went with HeatShield for our Melbourne 24L. The amount of heat that is knocked down by the 3 screens (windshield and two windows) is amazing.

Yeah the heat here is killer, I do two weeks in April in Indio, CA and the heat is brutal.

Heatshield here, too!
Fits nice and snug, easy in, easy out.
I like the much cleaner look than the curtain, and also that it keeps the cab inside the "privacy wall".

My DW made our window shades from Reflectix reflective insulation material purchased from Lowes. No tape, suction cups, or velcro required to hold in place. We did not like the cheesy curtain Jayco provided.

How so the shades stay up on the side windows without an attachment?

Crossingover they are sized a little big and basically stay in place once pushed up against the side windows. The windshield cover is held on top with the sun visors flipped down. They seem to work ok keeping it cooler in the cab area when the sun is beating down on us.
Also when I had the side windows tinted I had them add a darker strip along the top of the windshield to give us some relief when heading towards the sun.

Rob, I picked the overhead console up from truckpart_r_us on ebay, it's from a 2005 M2 106. The install was easy after I made that first cut through the overhead material.

I have the winning combination (for us, anyway.) We're in blazing Florida sun doing rodeos every other weekend. I use a two-part solution. Outside, we have a Sunpro 90 for Freightliner M2 (10-yr warranty)

This thing blocks 90% of visible light, but you can see out easily. It also does a really great job of blocking heat, because it does not let the glass (aka a radiator) get hot and bake the interior. By itself, it's easy. Attaches with magnets, along with a couple gusseted pockets, one for the top rear of each cab door. Takes 3 minutes to put it on, and it's sturdy so you can just hose it off if you get a lot of dirt like we do.

The challenge is that when it's dark outside and lights are on inside, you can see in. So, that's when we use the shaped "Reflectix" based panels on the inside so we can get the best of both worlds. It really is a great overall solution.

Did you have to drill any holes or are all the magnets in the cloth?

The magnets all came built in. No scratching, no drilling no hassle. It's really good quality stuff and easy to use.

We did the exact same thing... works amazingly well - and the cost was about $45.
