installing a lift pump

Hello All, Has anyone installed a lift pump on a Seneca with the GM 5500 DuraMax diesel? I have been told my stalling problem would be cured by helping the fuel get to the high pressure pump. This is a flaw in design having the high pressure pump suck the fuel all the way from the tank to the engine. Thanks

Have done that on farm equipment and shouldn't give any problem.

I was hoping someone did the install on a DuraMax. It would help me with the location of the pump.

A couple resources might help dieselplace.com and merchant automotive.com. Both have tons of info regarding duramax upgrades and maintenance.

I just put a fass lift pump on my 08 34ss. Very easy install. I mounted it on the frame crossmember just in front of the fuel tank. There is rubber fuel line splice right there with the standard quick disconnects on both ends. Removed that and put the pump hoses in that location. They give you enough wire to reach almost fo the fuse box and the battery box.
It is one of the best thing I have done. The rv pulls better and is quieter. The engine seems smoother.

Having the CP3 pump pull or suck fuel from the tank creates a low pressure in the lines and if there is a hole in the system it won't spray fuel everywhere and start a fire. However the FASS and Bulldog aftermarket lift pumps also help with power by degassing the fuel and you should get better milage. Check all your fuel lines before you install the lift pump, to make sure there are no leaks or wet spots.

mjc29, I'd like to do the same. Do you know what kit you bought from FASS?

Fass lift pump

Hello All, It is the same Fass pump I installed. I mounted it inside the second storage compartment on the driver's side. The return line I was able to cut into the fill hose inside the steel shoot in the grey, black and water fill compartment. I took my rig to a Fass distributor with an auto repair shop. He never gave me a price for the install and stopped taking my calls. I would say he had enough work and did not want to bother with my install. That was quite alright with me since it forced me to do the job on my own and save a crap load of money. The rig has never stalled since and the distributor said it would mask any minor issues. Mission accomplished.
