Jayco Seneca (Freightliner S2RV Chassis) Steering clicking/sticking partial solution

I reported a clicking/sticking sound in my steering column in my 2021 Jayco Seneca 37TS (Freightliner S2RV Chassis) when I first took delivery. They said there was nothing they could do. I reported it to the Frieghtliner service center where I got my first oil change. They said they would lube the steering column. But that made no difference.

Today, I took all the plastic trim off and listened around for where the sound was coming from. It comes from where the steering column penetrates the firewall. I sprayed some slide lube into that area, and it immediately got 90% better. It still ticks/clicks/sticks a little, but nothing like it did before.

Youtube video of the problem and almost there solution.

I'll probably locate a better penetrating lubricant and re-apply to see if I can make this noise go away 100%.

I hope this helps someone else down the road.

Creaking/groaning from steering wheel

I had the same noise. It's this white plastic ring. Mine has some green marker ink on it. This is the other side of that boot. Look under the hood. I tried some spray lubes, helped a little, I stuck a small screwdriver in the gap at the top. No noise. So I slid the boot up about an inch, put some synthetic grease on the steering column. Slid the boot back to where it was. It's much better. I guess after the black wears off it will smooth up. At least it's nothing serious.
